Yes, JD. Let’s ask them if they think a stay at home mom, avowed Christian, and widow of a veteran deserved to be shot in the face and left to bleed out in her own car after dropping her 6-year-old off at school, for the crime of looking out for her neighbors. Let’s ask everyone running for office.

They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time.

Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief.

Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time.

Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

American Samoans, unique among *everyone* born in US states or territories, are denied US citizenship.

That means they are banned from voting.

That's made some a target of vicious GOP prosecution for fraud; even if they were told incorrect info from public officials.

Also agents who murder non-citizens. This part is not optional
The only thing that's going to prevent ICE from becoming a federally sanctioned death squad is prosecuting agents who murder of American citizens.

our job is to document what's happening and help people understand how today's events fit into the larger picture.

what we write today will outlive us. there's power in having a written record that declares, "this happened, no matter what you try to say."

this.

telling the truth is always scary but especially right now—and especially within institutions that are less interested in truth than they are in maintaining power/making money.

but that's why it's all the more important that we do it.
journalists are falling prey to the same preemptive complicity we’ve seen from lawyers, judges, professors/university’s, etc.

any form of short term damage reduction you receive by groveling to fascists will lead to 10x damage on the back end

you don’t fight lies with deference
you speak the truth
the deference the media *still* gives dhs after months of straight-up lying isn’t much different from how it treats cops.

despite decades of evidence that cops lie about literally everything, journalists are still more willing to believe, or at least repeat, the “official” line.

why?

Very cool how her queerness and Actual Wife Who Was There When She Was Shot is being constantly erased by both the media and now elected senators.

Not at all a chilling trend to set
Renee Nicole Good was a mother of three, including a 6-year-old boy who is now an orphan.

Renee was deeply loved by many. Her mom described her as “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.”

This is who we lost yesterday.

Facts. America in a nutshell is “we as a society can’t have nice things because Black people would also have them”.

Our entire history has been this, and it’s far past time for all of us white people to wake up to these facts.
White people have always felt a fraction of what Black people feel. That's the agreement they signed up to. Less safety so Black people have none. Less access to healthcare so Black people have less. Housing insecurity so Black people can't accrue wealth. All to satisfy their desire to erase us.

thinking about how long leftists were blamed for making twitter inhospitable for MPs who are refusing point blank to leave now it's full of nazis and child porn
