It's very unusual to fail to secure an indictment from a federal grand jury.

There's even a famous saying about how easy it is to convince a grand jury to return a true bill.

But sources tell me Trump's DOJ secured zero / nada / not one (1) single vote in quest to indict Dems over a social video:
Trump administration fails to indict Democrats involved in 'illegal orders' video
President Donald Trump had accused six Democratic lawmakers of "seditious behavior" after they urged members of the military and intelligence communities to refuse unlawful orders.

One of the tiny silver linings of the absolute implosion of the DOJ is that, with very few exceptions, the lawyers left in the most corrupt offices (like DC) are absolutely the worst litigators of the bunch and the new blood is super green. It's like litigating on Easy Mode after years of Nightmare.

Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."

1) Abolish ICE & DHS. Prosecute. Shift immigration enforcement to pre-2003 arrangements.
2) Amnesty for all undocumented immigrants in the country for more than 3 months.
3) Decriminalize unauthorized border crossings and visa overstays. That means administrative rather than criminal penalties.
“Abolish ICE” needs to be rhetorically linked to an actual policy program of the sort folks On Here have proposed: return to essentially the 2001 status quo ex ante, shift immigration judges to article iii status, transfer criminal alien removal to grown-up law enforcement, etc.

I know some of you are going to come for me for this, but according to the NYT department of health, about 4.9% of people living in NYC have a visual impairment. I really wish Mamdani's team would use alt text. I'm team Mamdani, but disabled folks should not have to fight this hard for inclusion.
New York City: The time has arrived. Finally, a chance to tell the city EXACTLY what your landlord’s been getting away with. NYC’s first Rental Ripoff Hearings are happening in all five boroughs, and we want to hear from you. Real New Yorkers. Real stories. Real policy changes.

Wear a mask! Ideally a well fitted respirator like an N95.

Covid is not over. The government pushed a “back to normal” agenda for the economy, not because it was safe.

They told us “only the vulnerable” needed to worry, but covid is a multi system vascular virus that is dangerous to everyone.

Such a weird story. The "extreme" measures include masking and not staying in the Olympic village so as to avoid exposure in crowded cafeterias and common spaces. Seems like reasonable precautions for people who don't want to risk ruining the biggest athletic event of their lives!

For most people, the pandemic days of masking are behind us. In certain corners of the Winter Olympics, though, things still look a lot like they did in Covid times. Some athletes are taking extreme measures to stay healthy. n.pr/4akK70l

My thoughts exactly.
I really can’t watch any of these ice flip videos without thinking about how a white man is being rewarded for accomplishing what a Black woman was punished for doing 30 years ago

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
What a moment.

One of the things I love most about the Winter Olympics is that we just cannot win the most medals there. It is good for us to not win all the medals sometimes. There are so many good places that are not us.

Bill Clinton testified under oath about Monica Lewinsky. He will now testify under oath about Epstein. There is no excuse for Donald Trump doing that too. Either you want to learn the truth about Epstein’s crimes & who else was involved or you don’t.
