I'm editing an anthology about unlikable characters and seeking work from younger writers, 15-21. If you know of one such writer who might want to submit their work for consideration, please share this call for submissions: audacity.substack.com/p/acquired-t...

Please help if you can, especially if you live in the area and enjoy comics and community building. Katie is a Portland treasure, she has helped me and countless other creatives get their work out there 💕
Books with Pictures (@bkswpicspdx.bsky.social) in Portland, Oregon is a GREAT comic shop, and its owner in @omgkatiep.bsky.social is one of the best. The shop is going through a hard time right now, and if you want to help BwP out, they opened a GoFundMe to help do just that.

I just spent several happy minutes here. Some lovely writing.
We’ll share these little gems individually over the next while. All take just a few minutes (or less) to read. How else will you spend those 1-4 minutes? Doom scrolling? Worrying? Rage-baited? Scared? Lonely? How about a little trade?

One thing I think has occurred to me since my earlier post is that the problem most of us on the left are feeling right now is *powerlessness*. The right are entrenching themselves. They’re visible AF. They have all the media. They frame every debate.

Starbucks workers this Thursday 11/13 are starting a long strike to win a first union contract

*** NOBODY SHOULD BUY ANYTHING FROM STARBUCKS AS LONG AS WORKERS ARE STRIKING ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY***

Union baristas are calling on allies to STOP BUYING STARBUCKS if we go on ULP strike. If our communities stand with us in action, we can take back power from the billionaires & CEOs.

I just slid my ballot into a drop box at my local Multnomah County Library. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Nobody questioned my right to vote.

I note this in case it's the last time.
