Hey 2026! Some thoughts on community to guide into a new year.

New year. New ways to think about community.
The start of a new year is often a time of big goals, big promises, big expectations for the year to come.

“(insert hot take). Fight me!” posts are so weird.

You’re a rando with bad opinions. Fight you? Girl I’m gonna pretend I didn’t see you.

Debbie’s collection is really fantastic.
Portalmania by Debbie Urbanski. The most relatable asexual book I've ever read, to the point where I didn't even enjoy it because it was so accurate. Some stories sent me into deep spirals. Don't let that put you off, because I can't start to express how good this is. Every story is solid as rock.

A last good thing for 2025: LGBTQ Nation wrote about THE ACE AND ARO RELATIONSHIP GUIDE in their queer books monthly December edition: www.lgbtqnation.com/2025/12/ace-...
Ace & aro folks show us there's much more to relationships than just sex & romance - LGBTQ Nation
Cody Daigle-Orians literally wrote the book on ace and aro orientations and says they have a lot to offer people of all sorts.

We went to see a screening of WHITE CHRISTMAS tonight, and at the end the couple in front of us got engaged. He got down on one knee as soon as the lights came up. It was very cute.

This Guardian review of the West End “Oh, Mary!” gives me Goodreads review vibes.

You know, when people read a book, but they wanted another kind of book entirely, then blame the book for not being that book and give it 2 stars
Oh, Mary! review – US history lewdly revised as American Pie-grade comedy
Arriving from Broadway with much fanfare, Cole Escola’s play about Mary Todd Lincoln is loaded with obvious jokes and squanders the talents of its cast

It’s so disappointing that people have turned the act of reading into a gatekept fandom.

I got into hockey last season, but now when I share I’m kinda new to loving hockey, people will assume it’s because of Heated Rivalry. I AM HERE FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME 😂

I wish the conversation around roles and the sexuality of actors focused less on “can they?” and more on “Gay actors get less opportunities and are disadvantaged professionally.”

Casting gay actors in gay roles is about making being a gay actor a viable professional pursuit.

This is the ideal gay couple.

You may not like it, but this is what peak faggotry looks like.

They never really stopped being a white supremacy party, and this grifter demonstrates how profitable white supremacy is and how that profit will always exceed decency.

"Your aspec identity is everywhere in who you are, and when you can see it that way, everything you are and do is linked to that experience.

It gives you a lot to celebrate and be grateful for."

i strongly, strongly believe that good writing is downstream of clear thinking and a strong understanding of the subject matter at hand. without fail, tortured writing comes from writers who don’t know and can’t think clearly about anything.
Oh man! This paragraph is brutal. The best thing about this review is it's not trying to be mean. It's just listing how bad the writing is.

I know they're hypocrites. You know they're hypocrites. THEY know they're hypocrites.

So your post pointing out the hypocrisy of Republicans is for what or who exactly?
