Indeed it is so. The alarmists *have* been right every step of the way.
I started out as a "calm down" type at the beginning of his first term (even using the phrase "He could hardly do more damage than GWB."), and evolved into a full scale alarmist as the extent of my error became clear to me.

The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

I kept hoping that only the 30% or so with the hardcore MAGA pathology are as described here. The trouble is that a lot of people who I have been friends with for 40+ years apparently also have that pathology, leading me to think that it's more widespread than I had feared.

The goal of authoritarian regimes when telling obvious lies is to normalize unreality. What they want isn’t genuine belief but public obedience. If they can make the public cheer nonsense as brilliance, they’ve already bent reality inside the political arena.
