No pretense this is even about immigration anymore
Trump on Minneapolis: "I'll say it very plainly -- elections have consequences. The people want law and order. And we have a silent majority. They like what we're doing."

Trump administration charging Don Lemon for being a journalist while black
The arrest of my friend and colleague Don Lemon is an outrageous attack on the First Amendment and free speech in America. This cannot stand.

1/ Sure DOJ has opened an investigation into Alex Pretti's homicide. But not Renee Good's. What's the difference? There's no logical reason to investigate one but not the other. So what's going on?

Recall that Melissa Hortman and her husband were murdered not long ago by a fake cop who showed up at their door looking like this guy
This is from Georgia Fort’s video.

DEA?!? Gotta be a “task force.”

Georgia Fort, an independent journalist and vice president of the Minnesota NABJ chapter, was also arrested by federal agents this morning

I was sent this video of agents at her door:

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

Hey @npr.org - I don't know when #LeftRightAndCenter is recorded, but so far (2 minutes in) #DavidGreeneNPR has made several inaccurate statements based on things the President has said.

Secret police in masks surrounding the house of a journalist who is disfavored by the regime. This is naked authoritarianism and I do not understand what it will take for Congress to start talking about impeaching the president.

This right here is the beginnings of the result of what DOGE was really up to. Not *really* slashing stuff, but getting access to as many government citizen databases and joining them to be able to target people quickly and comprehensively across all their exposure to the federal government.
A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.

Please buy books that are coming out this year.

Doesn’t have to be mine. But there is a stellar release calendar this year especially of Black writers and it would be a shame if one of the fascist victories was people not buying those books (from the indies that are in the fight with us). #BookSky

Murdering dissenters & arresting journalists is what dictators do.

Trump’s Justice Department arrested Don Lemon & Georgia Fort after 2 federal judges refused to approve warrants. Let’s be clear: we are amidst a constitutional crisis.

Not only are they arresting journalists now, but they're gloating about it too.

It's obvious where this is all going

Looks like another early/busy fire season is coming (barring a whole bunch of precip over a whole bunch of the western US).
OK, as we go into February, I'm officially worried about our snowpack numbers across the Western US. Less snow means dryer soils and fuels heading into the summer and I don't like fire years where the high country comes online early.

This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.
This just in: "Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards," Lemon's attorney Abbe Lowell says.

Something I've been trying to impart on people is that the ICE occupation in Minnesota is both an ethnic cleansing and an ideological terror campaign. It's clear that the second part has utterly failed; the community is not terrified. But ICE is now desperately trying to salvage the first part.

YES!!!

"rip Palantir out by the roots, crush it, shred it, burn it, & shoot the ashes into the sun"

bsky.app/profile/luke...
Among other demands for lawmakers to make is that Palantir and every executive be blacklisted from ever working with the government forever
There was, in MN, a palpable, constant sense of fear that could even feel like paranoia from people engaged in civil resistance. Here’s why:

DHS has a whole citizen detainment system set up in Minnesota. They snatch citizens off the street (often with proof they are citizens), detain them for a few hours, steal their phones, then release them into the cold.

It ain’t about deporting citizens; it’s about terrorizing a whole population.
‘Abolish ICE’ has become an increasingly popular position and people are being shot in the streets over it why the fuck would you dillweeds roll over like this. Especially given that citizenship is much more friable than people think it is this is not as protective as dems want it to look.

The arrests of Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, plus the New York Times story about using facial recognition to take away PreCheck and Global Entry from observers, reveals how closely linked these two missions are. There is no separating ICE’s twin missions of ethnic cleansing and ideological terror.
