I hope New Yorkers will challenge Mamdani about this. Too often, people feel they need to be absolutely for or against a politician — ignoring their missteps or throwing them out with the bathwater. You can like and/or believe in someone and still challenge them to deliver on their promises.

Each arrest takes like a half dozen agents. They just don’t have the manpower for this. I am not even sure where the marginal utility of this type of thing would be. Maybe if they concentrated their efforts in one congressional district or something.
One of my biggest fears about the midterms is that ICE could flood the polls with agents who perform Kavanaugh Stops on every non-white person before they get a chance to cast a ballot, then detain them until voting is over. Which is not far-fetched at this point. www.huffpost.com/entry/ice-po...

This was my exposure to him too, as a white kid in the DC suburbs. Basically a vaguely racist (sometimes not so vaguely) caricature, with touchpoints being the hair, intonation, and rhyming. It wasn't until years later that I even heard about his ideas or how central he was to the movement

Man, this day. Well, 95 and 96 are fine ages, and Wiseman's legacy is beyond secure. I sincerely hope that whoever is entrusted with his legacy of more than three dozen masterful documentaries makes them easier to stream, to own, and to share. We'll be learning from his work as long as movies exist.
