Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

We fitted a door, we went out for a curry (and they gave me a rose with the bill, the cut end of which is inexplicably wrapped in duct tape) and now we're drinking fizz and watching The Amazing Spider-Man. Excellent Valentine's day 👍

Not even nearly finished (still need to drill the lock, fit the socket in the door, prime, paint and fit a cat flap - not in that order) but we did this today! I am proud!

The "handywoman: that we hired to fit a door last week not only failed to fit it but absolutely mangled it in the process.

So today we are working on it ourselves and I have discovered that, for someone who has never chiseled anything before, I am actually not half bad at chiseling a hinge recess.

It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea

Trans folk and allies, flood this. It won’t stop them doing irreparable damage to trans kids in schools but in twenty years when this gets studied we’ll be able to say they knew the consequences and how poorly received it was.

"... from the responses provided under the FoI request, concerns were more likely to be about being able to access and maintain the treatment they wanted."

Eight actual complaints in a 10 year period about inappropriately-provided gender care, mostly about there not being *enough* of it.

The pronoun labeler was hugely useful (and was really functionality that the site should have integrated). Hopefully people will now use this one instead.
The pronoun labeler, which was by far the most useful labeler on the site, was deleted by its creator. But thanks to @ripperoni.com there’s a new one available. I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to share your pronouns or see someone else’s pronouns at a glance.

I can see how this happened, people assumed it meant performance instead of perform. “Gender is performative” doesn’t mean “gender is a show” it means “gender is continuously asserted.”

As promised: crocheted goat sweater pics! 🧶

I made one for my librarian to try on her goats so I could check the sizing. She said one liked it so much he ran off with it & went to sleep. I need to add more of a turtleneck & bottom band to secure it but I'm very happy that it fits. More to come.

We're looking to capture experiences of what it means to be queer in the UK today! To do that we're collecting day diaries for 12th February. It doesn't matter what you get up to, or how you record it, we'd love to have it!🧵 (1/4) #LGBTplusHM #lgbthm26
In 1982, inspired by the work of MO the National Lesbian and Gay survey began, it sought to capture what everyday life was like for queer people living in the UK. For our latest open call we're continuing the work of NLGS and asking what does it mean to be queer every day?
