Nearly every panel I spoke on this year ended with the same question: "What gives you hope?"

My friends, that question expired years ago. (If you need receipts, my book Saving Us is literally a 300-page answer.)

The real question is: How are you PRACTICING hope?

Because Greta is right ..

Despite negative press reporting the energy transition is well underway. In the UK, we see strong demand for electric vehicles and solar panels. And the more people learn that these technologies can offer them tangible benefits the more others will adopt them too.

I have now planted 3 passionfruit vines different places and had 3 passionfruit vines die suddenly. I have accepted i will never have a passionfruit harvest like this - at least not in my current garden.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

When I was first elected, evidence showed it would take 193 years to bring London's air pollution within legal limits.

Due to our policies, we've done it in 9.

In Brazil this week, we showed that cities are giving the world reason to hope when it comes to tackling the climate emergency.

I'm glad renewables are growing faster than fossil fuels, really glad. But I wish the world was making similar progress on reducing energy consumption through efficiency etc
GOOD NEWS: Solar and wind book again in 2025. Ember just released the latest estimates with solar and wind additions this year.

More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

If you take the time to read the whole Gates memo (which I did), the bulk of the content was mostly solid and encouraging. Really!

It was the FRAME that was off--very off, from the first line.

And when your framing is off, then how you make decisions and set priorities is off. THAT'S the problem.

This post helps me to understand why Tauranga had such low EV charger density for so long..I often puzzled over it when planning a trip to Bay of Plenty
This whole bus vs EV situation has reminded me that when we lived in Tauranga if we parked our electric car outside the local pub people would corner us and start yelling about lithium or veganism or the climate hoax or whatever to the point we started taking our petrol car
