I feel like Trump has pioneered a new form of spoils, where criminal allies of the President can expect to be compensated for their crimes.
The settlement talks between the Trump administration and Michael Flynn and Stefan Passantino marked a change in position by DOJ, which previously had successfully argued in court to have both of their lawsuits tossed out

Mafia governance in action

Probably risky to say on here right now, but the consequences for some should be more than jail time.
Something the US needs to accept too is that without a large-scale correction imposing consequences on a large number of people, the crisis of governance here will continue indefinitely

And the conflation of "redemption is possible" with "he has redeemed himself" is all too often a convenient sleight of hand.
Men, in particular young men, swung to the Dems in this year's election.

The notion that most men are bigots and many had at least a bit of a Nazi phase at one point so Democrats have to be more welcoming to that stuff lest they lose elections forever was always a bad read on 2024, and now worse.
Flippant remarks like this come from a place of believing that the only way we win back men os by leaning into their bigotries, which apparently starts with letting a guy that kept a nazi tattoo on his chest for 18 years & said bigoted things online for years be the Democratic senatorial nominee.

Also 3) that he definitely went to the island.
Man, look: The regularity with which Trump defends his relationship with Epstein by noting that he never went to Epstein's island makes me think 1) that the island is where the really heinous shit went down and 2) that Trump knows that very, very well.

“you can be disappeared”

this is actually happening to people irl in this country, getting a temporary suspension from Bluesky is not the same thing. grow up
BlueSky is a bad site used by good people. That describes most social media sites. But BlueSky is egregiously unethical. Any of you can be disappeared for baseless reasons. I've been on social media for 17 years and never been suspended. BlueSky is the first place to do so – over Johnny Cash lyrics.

Joe Paterno had his career ended and his entire reputation scuttled - rightly so - for just the bare minimum of what Trump is suspected to have done: knowing and doing nothing.
Trump is demanding that GOP side with him over Epstein's victims, Rep Ansari tells me. She had a harrowing exchange with one victim who recounts how her mom had cancer and he exploited that.

Also note her mockery of network disclaimers on Trump. More like this, Ds:
