As end-of-empire scenarios go it is so much more dignified to get your capital city sacked by the Visigoths than to have a bunch of illiterate rich people in their 70s doing it through a series of incomprehensible tantrums because their brains were defeated by their phones.

Occurs to me that there’s a similarity between these politics grifters & fundamentalist apologetics: Their job isn’t REALLY to make an argument that holds up to reflection or scrutiny. It’s to deliver a performance of “erudite person who agrees with me” so you have permission not to think too hard.
If that phrase alone doesn't encapsulate 90% of the media's current challenge…

@briancgrubb.bsky.social Has anyone alerted you about Scrim, the dog who escaped his home twice, the second time by jumping out a 2nd story window and is still running the streets? Seems like your kind of pooch. www.wwltv.com/article/news...

The letter that Pete Hegseth's mom wrote to him in 2018 is incontestably damning. Moms often have such selectively rosy sentiments toward their sons that we have cliches about it. But Pete was such a monumental shithead to women that his mom could not stay silent. Incredible stuff.

This. It's incredibly depressing to finally have to accept that his appeal is very real and enduring. I was never a pollyanna about America but I didn't realize so many of us were this eager to be lied to.
And nobody in the real world is blaming Biden. That's made up too. The reason that the Democrats are so morose is Trump is just popular and there's no mystery about that, there's no one time phenomenon about it. He's popular for what he is and what he stands for.

The fundamental lie of the Federalist Society is “we’re not extremists, we’re just a group that can have open discussions about controversial topics.” But Judges Jones and Ho, continuing in the tradition of Justice Alito, demonstrated that’s not true. /1

News coverage — including election coverage — is NOT behind the picket line. It’s okay to read and share that, though the site and app may very well have problems.

Never forget that Tim Pool used $850,000 of his Putin money to purchase the land underneath a DIY community skate park in Martinsburg because the kids rejected his offer of prize money for a competition at the 10th anniversary party for the park and told him not to show up because he's a racist
The skate park was thriving. Then a right-wing YouTuber bought it.
Tim Pool’s purchase of an improvised skate park has riled skateboarders in West Virginia’s eastern panhandle.
