It won't matter. None of it matters because we have a huge problem of seeing children as property in this country.

My son put it best when he was a young kid: "Cats are great because you get happy every time you encounter them. You turn a corner, and there's a cat there, and it's like there's a cat, and that's great."

I always think about it whenever I turn a corner and encounter a cat.

Research shows coyotes in some areas look both ways before crossing roads and show traffic awareness. Between that and owner willingness to sacrifice their cats by leaving them outside (coyote cattle) so coyotes have free meals for their children, no wonder they do so well in sub/urban locales.

They don’t really know me.. but I’m so thankful that I AM me.

Happy New years to everyone. But especially to everyone who understand what I’m meaning. Here’s hoping 2026 is more hopeful and compassionate.

I might be who I would have been anyway without them, but I definitely got my sense of wonderment, magic, and love of whimsy.. even if inadvertently, from my family.

I go out of respect for that and so I can sleep at night. And I let all the other stuff roll off my back because..

I’ve been disowned, treated like a pariah, told so many times I’m hell bound, told how awful I am, degraded.. and everyone I know that actually loves me (I don’t count them, they don’t even really know me) wonders why on earth I go visit them at the holidays?

Because they gave me my imagination.

We only got 4 channels and Mom would let me watch Dr. Who on PBS because it’s the educational channel.. alongside Sesame Street and Electric Company.

As long as chores and homework were done, I could read anything I wanted. They didn’t care. I could watch almost anything. They didn’t pay attention.

Something her little sister would like. It was Lord of the Rings.

My mother, to keep me quiet in church when I was a little, gave me a copy of The Book of Conquests by Jim Fitzpatrick.. because it was colorful and kept me quiet. (She cut out the big sex scene) no idea what it was.

My family.. is not great. Awful really. BUT, they accidentally exposed me to things that literally shaped my mind in the most curious ways.
For example: my sister who doesn‘t read a lot, bought me a set of colorful books when I was 10 for my birthday. No idea what it was. It just “looked like”

Seance of Blake Manor. The attn to detail, game mechanics, storyline, use of actual folklore, just.. stylized, creepy as hell, and perfect.. one of the best games I’ve ever played.

I was in high school in 1987, friend of the family had a brick thrown thru his shop window EVERY WEEK. We were told we might catch aids on toilet seats and my family completely went no contact with a SIL who came out and ran off with her gf.

Honestly my entire family told me girls weren’t good at math. So.. shout out to Mr. Lewand who told me during the new computer class, that girls made better programmers because a) math b) Attn to detail.

Main reason I really got into computers.

Just pointing out, we all talked smack about "cable channels" back in the day and *gestures at what we've normalized*.
