Furthermore, I think showing you the notifications from people you follow would be quite helpful for a number of large accounts (of which I am not one at all).
If your account is big enough, you can't just block people giving blockable replies, too many of them.
For me, it's "yes and..."

What people call "toxicity" is also partly reflective of social media platforms' features & affordances. For example, not being able to mute reposts from people we otherwise want to follow (an affordance) means we're subjected to their doomscrolling reposts.
my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.

Roman Polanski should have gone to jail for drugging and raping a 13 year old, and then shunned by all, not allowed to make movies (and no, his young wife's grisly death doesn't excuse this). And one would guess this was not the only time or the first time he did it.
What's your favourite thing that's been made by an absolute cunt?

Trump has successfully turned attention away from Epstein now. And I don't know if it will come back.

I do think this one is funny. I'm happy to live in the Year of the Potato. Just hope it doesn't mean I'm moving to the Eastern Bloc and eating only one food.

No cheating. Reskeet with the most recent picture of your pet.

Cat Emmie is submitting to whatever Flannel is doing. I think the dog is nibbling on the cat's ear? But I don't really know. And Emmie regularly puts up with it. Does she like it? Beats me.

Listening to The Daily and the young lawyer who left bc disillusioned at firm caving to Trumpwas at SKADDEN!??
Evidently Skadden knew they had a reputational problem getting recruits under Obama, and broadcast that they would have unlimited hours available for pro bono work and a strong DEI program,

If I were going to do a heist from a museum, I'd do a reverse heist, find the Rembrandts, Vermeer, Degas, etc from the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum, steal them and return them.
Every bit as fun to watch as a regular heist movie.

First day off my medrol dose pack for the pinched nerve in my neck causing intense pain in my forearm. Yes, it was working and now it's not. But what I didn't realize, tho now seems obvious, it was wiping out ALL my aches and pains, and getting them back is it's own special Christmas present.

And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, yelled out, "You scumbag, you maggot, you cheap, lousy faggot
Happy Christmas, your arse, I pray God it's our last."
With the boys of the NYPD choir, still singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells are ringing out for Christmas Day.
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, floated on a soft and dirgelike main. The unharming sharks, they glided by as if with padlocks on their mouths; the savage sea-hawks sailed with sheathed beaks. On the second day, a sail drew near, nearer, and picked him up at last.
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, found himself in the bowels of a Vogon constructor ship, nursing a terrible transmaterial hangover, made only all the worse by the incessant poetry piped out over the ships loudspeaker, and his startling lack of any available towels

IF YOU POST ANYTHING, POST A LINK TO THE URL!

AND PROVIDE ALT-TEXT!
I really don't get why people don't do this. It's basic 'information hygeine', but I don't think many people even understand why they should do this. It's going to be a week of this, and it's going to be very annoying.
If you are going to post documents from the Epstein files, please provide a link to the url (assuming DOJ hasn't removed it). Salacious screenshots simply aren't enough.

@weisenthal.bsky.social From listening on Ezra Klein, 100% on Moby Dick, but reaching back to Walter Ong, absolutely another of my favorite books.
Have you read the anthropologist Jack Goody's unfortunately titled The Domestication of the Savage Mind? Covers related territory.

This isn't really an absurd concept bc you cannot make a block list of the toxic accounts on here, too fast moving.
But since bluesky blocks are nuclear, getting other people to block you is as good as blocking them.
If I'm on a block list that tankies use, that's fine with me.
I should have recognized this as soon as I started saying "the site is good once you get on the right block lists." That's an absurd concept.

Was a disgruntled former student. There's never just one, you have to go through every student who seemed off. That takes time, but they lucked out with a witness. Nothing wrong here.

If they actually manage to deport a US citizen, which they are obviously going to do sooner or later, what is the recourse in court? For immigrants who should not have been deported, I believe there's no recourse at that point. But for a citizen, that can't be true.

1980 I was visiting Provincetown MA, went to a double header of The Kids Are Alright (The Who) and The Harder They Come (Jimmy Cliff). Absolutely blew me away, both of them. Someone passed me a joint, and I got high, which was perfect.
Next day I got what turned out to be strep throat.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

I just realized that if we manage to impeach Trump for withholding money from Indiana unless they do what he wants, then both his first and maybe third impeachment we’ll have been about him trying to extort his way into getting what he wants.
