the world of art really makes your actual experience of living life better. it's good for thinking, concentrating, and imagining. for improving tasks. for mental health. for exercise. for understanding others. for visualizing history. people like music for sex; many people need it to sleep.

We need more media that normalizes explicit and emphatic consent.

Consent isn’t awkward. Even if the conversation *starts* awkward or uncomfortable, it precedes potentially great things!

AND

“No” is actually good. Clear that up! Don’t do anything at all! It’s a win.
TW: mentions of sexual coercion

I have dealt with sexual coercion from men several times and every time I let them know they violated me they seem offended bc all they probably hear is that I am calling them a creepy violent rapist bc sexual coercion is so normalized in our society.

"Your patch is not big enough!"

As people remember Rev. Jesse Jackson, his 1988 DNC Speech is worth some sustained attention.

something I think about with Jesse Jackson’s passing… I can’t imagine how it feels to have made your life’s work fighting for a better country, see some positive results, and then watch it all unraveled in FAR less time, in the same lifetime.

People are complex humans. Its okay to celebrate Jesse and his accomplishments and still acknowledge his shortcomings. But today. I, EYE, Me, Moi, celebrate his legacy to the Black community.

I know the basic outlines of Jesse Jackson's life, but whenever I read about him I come away feeling like I don't know nearly enough.

And that's definitely by design. His impact on American history has been systematically minimized and downplayed by "mainstream" (white) culture for my entire life.

😭 this is why human artists are important. A drawing of this description would still be funny, but much safer
Sorry I didn't get a picture. I was diving. In the other direction, a Cybertruck was pulling a trailer full of trash. In all honesty, it actually looked like the trailer was pushing the Cybertruck.

Tom Hardy said, “Don’t be afraid to dream a bit bigger, darling” in Inception, and I took that personally.
Ppl love to discourage others by saying “well, that’s not how life works” when they speak on a lofty goal or seemingly out of reach dream.

My response to those ppl every single time is “Maybe not YOUR life.” Tuh. It’s not my fault you’re an Un-whimsical bitch.

Whoo Jesse Jackson inspires deeply complex feelings , but he worked to get us through a lot of it, and failed miserably at adjusting through much of it.

But he wanted better for his people and that started him

May he rest well and his family be held in love

US had almost *no* job growth in 2025.

Hiring numbers were revised down by over a million jobs.

Largest annual revision in over 20 years.

U.S. added 130,000 jobs in January, but labor market growth stalled in 2025
The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that U.S. employers added 181,000 jobs last year, far fewer than the 1.46 million jobs that were added in 2024.

Every time you speak up - and every time you don't - there are people watching and learning about you and the world you help create.
The drunk uncle theory.

You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there
agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with
