I don't want to be that kind of guy, but... March 1 comes next week.

We in Ukraine are moving towards having lived through yet another godawful winter in the cold and dark under Russian missiles and drones, and we have been good at it.

Fascinating - Reform lose to every other option, Lib Dems beat every other option, Greens beat every other option except Lib Dem
🧵/ With tactical voting ever more common, who do voters back when only two parties have a chance in their seat?

Figure seem to suggest lot of green voters would prefer to risk a Reform MP rather than vote for any Labour MP. Which as a staunch supporter of “keep out reform & Tories” makes me question Green voters purported desire to stand up for the vulnerable & discriminated & concern for climate crisis

I mean, in FPTP election where clear & unambiguous quality polling & local soundings showed it was ONLY going to be green or reform/ Lib Dem or reform/ Labour or reform /& even a conservative MP who was a relic of the one nation tories or reform - not tactically voting is to risk Reform winning.

I am, once again, banging my head against a wall and begging for MP staffing budgets to actually reflect the *thousands* of items of increasingly complex casework and correspondence that come through our offices every month so we can actually give our constituents the service they deserve.
The workload facing MPs and their staff is growing, in ways that aren't visible to the public: casework and the inbox.

For @thehousemag.bsky.social, I delved into what the workload looks like, why it's growing, and what this means for how MPs can balance the different aspects of their role

@mrjamesob.bsky.social - I’ve come up with a potential win win solution for govt, young ppl & business. The tax break could be permenant or staggered decreasing over time. Deffo scope to improve the details of the idea, but I feel there is something useful in there 👇😀
What about if Labour continues to roll out the equal minimum across all ages wage AND give a tax break for small companies below a certain threshold of turnover/profit employing people below the age of 18 (or 25?) Thus overcoming the lack of first stage jobs in the jobs market too

The central 'plot' for the final two books is the conflict between a fusty professor who insists that there were no dragons and these were just a metaphor for the Targaryens' mastery of cannon, and a revisionist academic arguing no, they really did have dragons.

This is also how every call to "slash red tape" or "deregulate" should be handled.

Regulations can always work better or be streamlined, but 98% of the time their purpose is still valid and the right wing clowns bloviating about it are the last people on earth you'd trust to iterate implementation.

Great thread on the reality of MPs’ offices and the constant triaging and prioritisation that goes on - and trade offs involves
Good overview of the workload on staff and MPs, and what the role of the MP is/could/should be.

I prioritise dealing with casework quickly over replying to policy emails because e.g. helping a person access disability support is more important to me...
