This is good news 🎉🎉😊

“In its first year in office, Keir Starmer’s government has invested £2bn more than Johnson did in his first year – with £4.5bn allocated to regional investment programmes in Labour’s first year compared with £2.5bn spent in the equivalent period under Johnson”

Good! I hope Gordon does a speech to Starmer like Gandalf did to King Theoden in LOTR, & Reeves & Starmer actually listen to Gordon this budget & take his advice… rather than listening to the Wormtongue whispers of ppl like Morgan McSweany & Maurice Glasman
.
(Reclaim Tolkien for socialism! 😄

A bit about John Craxton en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Cr...

& an old Oldie article about John, his cat art and the book www.theoldie.co.uk/blog/the-cat...

‘Gruel! Round up round up, get your Conservative thin gruel… what’s that boy? You want MORE?! Take him away, lock him up… thrash him to an inch of his life…’

“Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, [posts] to social media to say the Conservatives are “back””

My thoughts today sit with the victims of October 7th, those killed by the horrendous Hamas attack & the families, friends and communities around the world still being affected by the awful acts on that day. I hope for a future of peace 🕊️

I can empathise with days like that.

Photo of a post from Israeli historian & writer Fania Oz-Salzberger. I think it is important we are all very clear on the difference between free speech, humanist approaches - and anti semitism, & other forms of racism. Just as (whatever you think re his policies) Starmer did well earlier this week

As the late and loved Jo Cox said “we are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us”.

We will not let hate or those who spread it win. 🙏🤗

Sometimes you have to admire the Star front page headline copy writers 😅

Personally if I was Kier Starmer I would be getting legal advice about taking the Mail to court for defamation. Whatever you think of what Starmer said, he specifically stated that the reform policy was racist, but that did NOT mean all reform voters were racist.

Or if you don’t want to give Spectator the views, then there is a Steve Reed ask me anything about the newly announced “Pride in Place” policy & funding on Reddit tomorrow, Friday 26th September at 3PM.

Worth reading 👇 A set of points made on X by Daniel Kebede, General Secretary of the National Education Union, the largest teacher’s union, who was on the anti-racism protest yesterday & saw up close the Stephen Yaxley Lennon/Tommy Robinson right wing nationalist populist “unite the union” rally.

Screen shot of Met police Twitter/X update on far right Stephen Yakley Lennon’s “unite the kingdom” march in London today. Police report nine arrests, stating many more to come, and that police are facing violent attacks from self professed “patriots”.

I believe John McDonnell MP is very prescient in his analysis. Morgan McSweany is not the messiah. He is someone with a campaigning skill set which unfortunately is not suited for government. McSweany is following steps of Hilton, Timothy & Cummings - bringing down their PM & failing the nation.

Something rotten in the state of Denmark. Is the king across the water (in the north) going to start marshalling forces? Hey, Hamlet was a tragedy for Hamlet & immediate family, but was a win for Fortinbras. I’m not saying Hamlet *is* the right play tho.. it cld be confusion in the woods before dawn

A friend of mine came across a whole swathe of these AI made confused flag pics on their friend’s face book page. So they made the below in response 👇😊

“The path to peace in Gaza runs through Trump, not social media posts, or window flags, or creatives “using their platform”, or any of the other gestures that…in fact only throw our era’s increasingly pervasive sense of powerlessness into even sharper relief.”

An excellent question. Makes me think while the saying “the left looks for traitors, the right looks for converts” is not a blanket truth, there is sometimes a vocal group keen on performative purity (that can be either right, left or on any single issue) who would turn away any “prodigal son”.

For some reason your post made me think of the late 80s film “Society” 🥹
