You had the guy going to the Supreme Court to avoid obeying orders to pay SNAP benefits and decided to work the weekend to save him from more national headlines

I think its B.A.D for the Dems to bail out the supreme court on not ruling in SNAP payments.

But i also don't want to withhold SNAP for any reason. Idk, cant win with morally depraved partisans.

Adjacent Column, probably: An epidemic of loneliness is spreading: Why your conservative neighbors are more likely to celebrate the holidays alone.
Column: With Thanksgiving coming up, you may have noticed online posts about whether it's okay to charge guests for dinner.

It's part of a larger trend that, depending on your point of view, is either a major breach of etiquette or simply pragmatic.
Column | I’m on a budget but I want to host Thanksgiving dinner. Can I charge guests?
The trend of transferring financial responsibility from the host to the guest is turning fellowship into a monetary affair.

Back half of 25 and 2026 was always going to see a crush on CRE regardless of anything; actually think the outlook is less bad than it was a year ago.
I assume this is office driven, which has just been murdered the past three years, and probably a little multifamily if they include that as CMBS, which also suffered from the jump in interest rates even though competition for qualifying assets from insurance firms has kept down cap rates.

My hypothesis is the FAA regional managers let it be known they wouldnt be able to keep unpaid staff on job without walkouts unless they lessened the workload.
I legit can’t figure out the play on these FAA flight cancellations. Who’s the White House trying to pressure. And who do they think people are gonna get mad at when Thanksgiving goes down the drain?

Looking forward to learning all about how the right should move left to win elections tomorrow. They should maybe dye their hair pink, learn to love pronouns.

Long thread summary: TikTok guy is full of it, SRF uptake has nothing to do with banks' credit performance (which is *improving* rn), SRF uptake is a sign of the system working as designed, and it's all because we made banks more stable by forcing them to manage liquidity more responsibly. FIN

When I didnt have a lot of work my first 3 months at a bank, i learned up on the differences between a) biz balance sheets, b) bank balance sheets, and c) central bank balance sheets.

It is enlightening, no math really involved, and totally worth the time investment (like an hr with a good teacher)
QE (both after the global financial crisis and during the COVID shock) meant the Fed had purchased a bunch (like, trillions of $ worth) of bonds and banks held a bunch (like, trillions of $ worth) of reserves, which meant the private sector swapped a lot (like, tr-you get it) of bonds into deposits

One time. The GOP has won more than 50% of the popular vote <one time> since 1992. And yet, every day, you are bombarded with Takes™️ from Ezra Douthglesias about how deeply unpopular The Democrats and their policy platform are, without any reflection on how the same standard applies to the GOP.
The Dems have won the popular vote in presidential elections six times since 1992 by roughly 5.5%(1992), 8.5%,(1996) .5%(2000), 7.3%(2008), 4%(2012), 2%(2016),and 4.5%(2020).
In that period the GOP presidential candidate has won the popular vote twice: 2.5%(2004) and 1.5%(2024).
Douthat writes that 2024, when Harris lost by 1.5% of the popular vote, was "an ideological referendum and progressivism lost." I wonder why he didn't view the 2020 election, when Trump lost by 4.5% of the popular vote, as a far more significant loss for conservatism.
