College sports things for the Washington Post. Midwest transplant, apparently. Happy to be here and not there.

Really enjoyed @jessedougherty.bsky.social's reflections on sportswriters also being fans.

I find it annoying when journalists ham up rooting for "their" team.

I also find it annoying when journalists are joyless about sports they cover.

What's the happy medium?

When you think of college football, you think of Saturday, right?

Then there are teams like ECU, which played four of its first seven games on Thursday night.

"You don’t need a map and a compass to find our games on TV."

College football is a Saturday sport. But then there are those Thursday and Friday and sometimes Tuesday games you turn on because why not?

A fun story with @jessedougherty.bsky.social on how teams from smaller conferences try to grab TV eyeballs on weekdays.

The real marathon here is Marlins Man taking a video of every single pitch (and deleting each little clip that doesn't amount to much).

Generational clout chaser.

I profiled Ace Dybantsa.

Father of one of the best young basketball players in the world.

Last week, with his team trailing at halftime, Lane Kiffin cracked that his QB had to stop with the “Division II stuff.”

But for Trinidad Chambliss, D-II stuff isn’t a pejorative. Without three years at Ferris State, he wouldn’t be thriving in the SEC: www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/...

We simulated what your bank account would look like if you kept betting parlays. Here we consider a five-leg parlay with -110 odds per leg. And we assume you're no better than random chance. (You probably aren't.)

You might get lucky every so often, but breaking even in the long run is very hard.

Also the alt headline of "The failure of playing by Jordon Rules" is very, very good.
