Unless you're doing some insane stupid Weather Underground shit the actual risk you face from the authorities isn't some crazy Big Brother tech shit. it's that some cop beats or shoots you from a foot away because he got angry.

no you don't need a separate car to go do distro. no Stingrays don't give the cops complete access to everything you do on your phone. yes Signal is still the safest way to chat via data.

Scale your opsec, people. Grannies delivering food do not need signal. If you want shit to be secure, meet in person. Go on a nice hike where you can spot people a long way off.
be wary of people whose Opsec advice is "don't go anywhere or do anything unless you've spent dozens of hours and thousands of dollars taking preventative actions to protect yourself"

A good news story: a year old male mountain lion walking around a San Francisco neighborhood was successful tranquilized and relocated to wilderness, in part because the neighborhood helped out and had the right attitude.

Federal and provincial governments appear to be engaging in what Christopher Alcantara and Lucas De Sousa call reconciliatory backsliding — a term for when “governments alter legislation designed to protect the collective rights of Indigenous communities.” Experts write. #canpoli

My first job out of college was working at the United Steelworkers; my coworker tried to teach me the most important lesson you can learn working for a union is you cant change the world from a pine box

Over a decade later, plus 7 years of therapy, I finally started to believe it

Highly reccommend
I paid my therapist a zillion dollars to tell me this, so I’m passing it on to anyone else in MN who needs to hear it:

Think of taking time away to recharge not as not doing the work, but as doing quality control for the work. You’re not going to be able to show up to do it well if you’re depleted

People who think we should wait until we win everything think we should win forever. Celebrate interim victories, partial victories, imperfect victories, small victories, because celebrating strengthens the resolve to keep on, reminds us of our power, and also is fun.

Can't sleep tonight, apparently. Going camping in a couple days though, so I'll hanging on to that. 🌲 Not sure where we'll end up, going to try to car camp over on the west side of Vancouver Island.

Legitimately, if you want to be able to fight anything long term, you have to take time to remember what you're fighting for. It's hard sometimes, but make it a habit. Joy and hope sustain people!

Our opponent has a lot of money and power at its disposal, it's easy to feel hopeless.

Hopeless people don't fight.

Victories, even small ones, show that the enemy is not invulnerable.

They show that we SHOULD fight, because we CAN win.
