Libertarianism is the most intellectually deficient political philosophy on Earth.
“Don’t tell me what to do” while I busily tell everyone else what to do and whine like a toddler when they don’t comply. It’s intellectual incel-ism.

The Minister of Finance and the Treasury released its Half Year Economic and Fiscal Update today, and with it – its ‘plan’ for the Budget in 2025 in the Budget Policy Statement. The indicators show very clearly that it’s not working for anyone. A long thread (apologies) #nzpol

Waitaha for the win! Well done Selwyn District Council and ECan. Local councils are political entities with every entitlement to express their views on legislation that will directly impact their mahi.
I'm proud to say that yesterday, the Selwyn District Council also resolved to submit against the Principles of the Treaty Bill. The debate was robust and the vote was not unanimous, but it wasn't close either.

This isn't outside our remit; it would have big, expensive implications for local govt.
ECan has asked Parliament to abandon the Treaty Principles Bill.

“Our Ngāi Tahu partnership is central to all our work,” its submission says. www.thepress.co.nz/nz-news/3605...

Imagine if the govt put as much time and effort into cracking down on wage theft, tax evasion, and white collar crime as it did on being insufferable shits to beneficiaries.
