Libertarianism is the most intellectually deficient political philosophy on Earth.
“Don’t tell me what to do” while I busily tell everyone else what to do and whine like a toddler when they don’t comply. It’s intellectual incel-ism.

New reccs: 'Decolonising Methodologies' by Linda Tuhiwai-Smith for a Māori approach to academic research. Follow Tina Ngata on Tiktok for excellent summaries of Te Tiriti and other great analysis/educational content.

'NZ Wars' docuseries by Mihingarangi Forbes, and 'The New Zealand Wars' by Vincent O'Malley - for an understanding of the colonial wars between Māori and Pākehā.

Specific recommendations that I second are, 'Ka Whawhai Tonu Mātou', Ranginui Walker - for a Maori perspective. The Penguin 'History of New Zealand', Michael King - for a general overview. 'The Treaty of Waitangi', Claudia Orange - for a specific focus on Te Tiriti.

I second a number of the recommendations already given and I would also recommend you read articles from the online magazine E-Tangata e-tangata.co.nz for a live, contemporary political and social perspective with a Māori and Pacific lens.
