five years ago the president of the united states incited an insurrection in order to try to retain power and it is a comprehensive failure at every level - media, law enforcement, courts, politicians and most of all the voters - that he has returned to power and threatens the stability of the world

The lesson of January 6th is that it does absolutely no good to prosecute the the violent foot soldiers if you're not going to prosecute the leaders and hold them accountable for their sedition under the full force of the law.

Many attempted coups end up in failure (Hitler, Mussolini, etc). It often used as a learning lesson for them and unless they are held accountable, they try it again.

This is why it was so important to finish Trump off. We didn't and are living with the somewhat predictable consequences.
Five years ago, if you were to say that the people sacking the Capitol would be pardoned and celebrated, it would have been hard to believe. So too, if you were to predict that the person in who encouraged it would return to office. But we have a culture of impunity. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/06/o...

On the fifth anniversary of J6 I think it’s important to say Donald Trump should have died in jail.

The siege on the Capitol was the most visceral part of the coup but I’m not even sure it was the gravest aspect. Forging electoral certificates was the equivalent of tens of millions of fraudulent votes. And pressuring officials to change the outcome is an outrageous crime.
Former Special Counsel, Jack Smith, explicitly states:

"President Trump was by a large measure the most culpable and most responsible person in this conspiracy. These crimes were committed for his benefit. The attack that happened at the Capitol, part of this case, does not happen without him."

Only 12,285 documents have been released while more than 2 million remain under review.

Once again, I implore media outlets to stop saying these are CDC decisions.

These are changes being made unilaterally by RFK Jr. against the expert advice of CDC scientists.

I note that RFK Jr. no longer recommends flu vaccine for kids in the midst of a horrible influenza year.
CDC overhauls childhood vaccine schedule to resemble Denmark in unprecedented move
The new U.S. guidelines recommend all children get vaccines for 11 diseases, compared with the 18 previously on the schedule.

it's so weird that there are still people who defend chuck schumer on here

so many "we don't have any power, what do you expect him to do" and "we've tried absolutely nothing strategically unique and are all out of ideas" type of folks who seem extremely happy to wallow in powerlessness

This drip always tells us he can't do anything & it's up to the GOP or "the people" to do something

This is the logical result of the "Democrats have no power to do anything" crowd

Weak people must stick together otherwise they'll exposed just what cowards they are

They can fuck all the way off.
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."
