American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Abolishing the Senate and SCOTUS should be talked about much more.
It's not normal to have a "senate" in a democracy. It's explicitly anti-democratic.

This is Trump / Cassidy plan — and the appropriate response from Democrats is “you’re goddamn right we hate insurance companies, that’s why we’re introducing Medicare For All and calling on Trump to back this plan to destroy the insurance corporations that delay and deny your family’s healthcare”
"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

I do not know if there are 5 votes on the Supreme Court for feeding 42 million Americans, but there are at least 3.

A number of states worked Incredibly hard and fast to fulfill the court order to provide benefits.
Now they want to threaten and punish states who provided benefits based on a court order?

I hope those states who are still pushing snap benefits continue to do so

A good point as well -- having more kids puts more burden on women, removing them from the work pool and, in the mind of this administration at least, forces them into subservient family service.

They want the desperate rookeries of the Victorian slums. They want women to lose control of their reproductive lives, to make everyone even MORE afraid of falling into poverty all the time, to create a vast reserve army of the unemployed. A poorer country is desirable, if they get more power.
