Every time you speak up - and every time you don't - there are people watching and learning about you and the world you help create.
The drunk uncle theory.

You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there
agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with

you can really blow some minds with “actually there was an entire library and research institute for queer / trans history, science and medicine founded by a Jewish sexologist but the Nazis destroyed it in the hopes of exactly this outcome, ie future generations not believing trans people are real”
every time someone says something like "there weren't trans people when I was a kid" or some shit about trans people being a new thing because WOKE all I can think is "motherfucker Dog Day Afternoon was made in 1975"

Australia is built on immigration. The economy *still* relies heavily on immigration. New migrants make it better, stronger. Building new housing and infrastructure would help everyone.

Every major political party: We will cut immigration.
Mainstream media: But can you be as racist as Pauline?

A tune before they know what the tune is? And then have to keep humming it to find out?

I’m reading Snake Eater by @tkingfisher.com and it’s wild how much tiny country towns are the same. I live in Australia and can recognise these people

Starting the day with a very ranty "fan" letter informing me they just finished GOD'S JUNK DRAWER and were downrating it for "WOKENESS" (yes it was all caps).

Soooooo if you've been on the fence about whether or not to pick up the audiobook or hardcover, maybe that's another good reason you should.

My mosy cancelable Sorcerer take is that reading books written for magic a continent away and a whole different set of seasons and tides is going to mess you up. “We’re not druids!!” So? You still do the magic where you are! Learn from local sources!!
My cancelable take on Sorcerer Twitter is that folks need to consider the local ecosystem before they curse people into animal forms.

I get it - toad is a classic! But as Australia shows, YOU CAN'T JUST LET THEM LOOSE EVERYWHERE.

Most places need more beavers! ALMOST NO PLACES NEED MORE WILD HOGS.
my cancelable take on Sorcerer Twitter is I think magic squares are nerd shit

my cancelable take on Sorcerer Twitter is that there should be a competency exam before you can read Carlos Castaneda, we don’t need just everyone out here silencing the internal dialogue and attracting the moth of knowledge, not to mention the impact on peyote conservation in the wild

I deleted TikTok back when the Oracle purchase was announced but if you've still got it, you GOTTA dump it. Especially for trans folks. It straight up says in the new TOS that they--Oracle, the company that has active ties to the Trump admin--are monitoring and documenting trans and NB users.
