Rubio is claiming that they did not need Congress permission because it was a law enforcement mission. The US is behaving as a global police state, extending its own arbitrary legal decisions to the whole world.

This is not a problem just for Venezuela.

It will cost billions of dollars to overhaul PDVSA's creaking infrastructure in order to secure low quality crude that will be hard to sell. I am happy to predict now that any invasion will be a net cost to the US.
Trump on the US running Venezuela: It will not cost us anything because the money coming out of the ground is substantial. We’re going to take back the oil.

Dear random angry UK persons: Yes, the Venezuela thing is awful. It doesn’t give you license to abuse people with North American accents in London. Rather a lot of us agree with you and some of us have voted with our feet and/or are part of the resistance

Let's not forget that Trump just pardoned Juan Orlando Hernández - ex-Honduras president who backed a coup, committed election fraud, violently repressed activists, lawyers, Indigenous people, youth etc - and was entenced to 35 years by an American jury for trafficking drugs and weapons into the US

Kidnap a foreign head of state - and Keir Starmer will make it clear we've played no part in it but will wait for the scheduled press conference in a few hours before potentially condemning it

SAS to The White House please.
We wholeheartedly condemn the US attack on Venezuela and kidnapping of their leadership. Regardless of opinions on Maduro, kidnapping a country's leader is a flagrant breach of International Law and must be condemned by our Government, as well as the UN.US Imperialism must be condemned at all levels.

One of my resolutions for 2026 is to drive less & take more trains

Have bought a Two Together railcard for me & the partner.

A 1/3 off most journeys for £35.

Makes trains much more competitive vs. the car
Two Together Railcard | Railcards - Two Together Railcard
A Two Together Railcard costs just £35. It will save you 1/3 on rail fares for you and the person you travel with most throughout Great Britain.

Keir Starmer promised to abolish the House of Lords. Instead he’s appointed Matthew Doyle, the man in charge of his, um, brilliant comms. It’s been a repeating story for more than 100 years app.prospectmagazine.co.uk/story/72007/...
The PM vowed to abolish the Lords. Why is he stuffing it with allies instead?
