Eu diria que é algo ainda mais perverso: elas estão falhando há muito anos, consecutivamente e sempre em favor dos mais ricos e conservadores. Bush v Gore. Citizens United. Não adianta ter instituições e achar que elas fazem tudo sozinhas, como se fossem autômatos.
Tava lendo uma thread gringa e um dos posts acabou sendo muito certeiro: o teste de fogo das instituições americanas não é hoje, foi entre 2021 e 2023, quando o Partido Democrata tinha maioria nas duas casas do Congresso, a tentativa de golpe era fresca e Trump podia ser punido. Elas já fracassaram

Smashing windows, pulling people out of cars, disappearing people off the street. Restaurants and shops are closing after raids, or out of fear. The left is starting to arm up. I've had friends pointedly "questioned" by seeming informants. Media isn't conveying what it feels like here right now

Não é a mesma coisa, não to querendo minimizar a violencia da PM aqui no Brasil não, mas no caso dos EUA, o ICE é uma força de ocupação. O Trump tava tendando usar a guarda nacional pra isso também, mas não tava dando muito certo, então ele tá usando o ICE. Ele tá invadindo e ocupando estados
Vou pegar esse comentário do Catala, que eu considero correto, pra fazer uma reflexão. A violência policial na América Latina é absurda e faz parte de uma forma de controle social e opressão muito bem estabelecida. Ela também existe nos EUA e é frequentemente alvo de denúncia e protestos.

There is a video from across the street of half a dozen or so masked federal agents wrestling a man to the ground, punching him. Then there is a shot, then several others, until he is lying completely still.
