Hundreds of people have told me about suicidal ideation around their chronic pain. Many people do ultimately reach that level of hopelessness. This is 100% the fault of intentional medical neglect. I personally resonate deeply with that feeling. That is a conversation that doesn’t happen enough.
Sometimes I’m in so much pain that I don’t know how my brain can handle it any more. I absolutely feel like I’ve lost my agency and sense of self. But it’s important for us to note the fact that it is not at all uncommon for chronic pain and medical neglect to lead to suicide rather than murder.

Duckstream 2024 was a huge success. With donations, matches, t-shirts, and Twitch revenue we’re probably looking at about $30,500 raised for TransActive. Our community blew it out of the park this year and we couldn’t be more happy to have such generous people around us.

This appears to reference the 2010 book "Delay, Deny, Defend" by Jay Feinman, which outlines the processes insurance companies use to deny claims.
