33rd completed game of 2025 is Mario Kart World (2025). It's an excellent kart racer with the best animation in the genre and an incredible character roster, but it had the impossible task of following up on the superlative Mario Kart 8. Still a lot of fun in its own right.

32nd completed game of 2025 is WarioWare Inc. (2003). This was a laugh-out-loud hoot from start to finish, and is pleasantly short; you could wrap it up in a couple hilarious sittings.

My wife and I enjoyed our time at Barcade in Philadelphia a few days ago. Among the games I'd never played before were Anteater (1982), Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game (1995), Mappy (1983), Pac-Mania (1987), and - my favorite - Mr. Do! (1982).

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I've recently gotten pretty annoyed at the folks who think it's OK to smoke weed in no-smoking hotel rooms - seems like every time I travel I encounter that crummy skunk smell. Don't know why someone would think that's more OK than cigarette smoke 😡

Got to see a bunch of rad Henri Rousseau paintings at a museum today. This one was especially interesting.

31st completed game of 2025 is Mortal Kombat 3 (1995). I remember liking MK2 more, but MK3 Arcade is a *lot* more fun to play than its direct predecessor (and its stages are a lot prettier). I favored Kung Lao, Sheeva, and Sub-Zero. Curious to see how UMK3 and MK Trilogy rebalance the game.

30th completed game of 2025 is Mortal Kombat 2 (1993) via the Legacy Kollection. It's an improvement on MK1, but the arcade version proved impossible to beat due to CPU input reading. I switched to the SNES version, which was better-balanced, and kicked Shao Kahn's butt. The art design still rocks.

Oddity (2024) was my spooky Halloween treat this year. A solid Irish ghost story, it's a nice creepy experience at only 90 minutes. Big recommendation for fellow gothic horror fans.

So, today I'm announcing a new book project... and doing a call for papers: crpgbook.wordpress.com/2025/10/31/t...

It's an anthology of video game history outside the usual US perspective - an accessible & exciting panorama of different realities - and I'll pay 300 USD per article.

Please share :)

Today I’m putting my money where my mouth is and launching a new project — a book focused on game history outside of the usual North American perspectives.

29th completed game of 2025 is Mortal Kombat (1992) via the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection. This game is stupidly hard in its original arcade incarnation, but "rewind" functionality let me finally topple that punk Shang Tsung. Not sure it'd appeal to anyone under 30, but I had a hoot.

As a Catholic, Walsh's attitude towards the poor disgusts and baffles me. I genuinely can't fathom how folks with such cruelty in their hearts dare to claim fellowship with Christ. I hope he gets better, I really do.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake rounds out the Erdrick Trilogy, giving this classic turn-based RPG franchise the opening chapters it deserves.
