I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

I am grateful that I get to work with so many other educators who are good at their jobs and care about kids.

The best! I started a rewatch right after the show ended and then didn’t finish because I wasn’t emotionally ready for the show to end again. Maybe I’ll start S3 again this weekend.

Today’s march took the same Fifth Ave route as the 1917 anti-lynching Silent Parade, one of the first American civil rights protests. Both started at 59th, by General Sherman’s statue, and headed downtown. For more on the Silent Parade: hyperallergic.com/naacp-silent...

if you want to know what it is like in minneapolis, I don’t even have to scroll on facebook to find a horror story. it’s basically my whole feed.

everyone i know in minneapolis is seeing ICE take people—at gas stations, taquerias, bus stops, schools. just snatching random people.

I like your shirt. I'm very into floral patterns drawn like that and the blue makes your eyes pop.

A gentle reminder in your grief that Renee Good was out there to protect her Black and brown neighbors from ethnic cleansing. That is still the mission.

The focus should remain on slowing down the ethnic cleansing campaign and on protecting Black and brown families and communities from destruction.

it would rock if more and more prominent Dems were making a big public show of disgust and outrage about the administration's continual choice to smear a murdered young mom as a terrorist and would-be killer who deserved to get shot in the face

Remembering today that having your heart broken is a necessary step on the path to becoming fully human. Whichever heartbreak is your first, it’s probably critical that a state break your heart so that you can develop a political imagination. If this is your first, I’m sorry and also welcome.

Someone just asked me how I read so many books last year and I said that for me, reading a book is self-care because most of the time, the alternative is scrolling. If I prioritize reading as a daily practice, my brain feels better.

Sometimes, when I don't want to do something I have to do, I give myself permission to be VERY dramatic about it for about 3-5 minutes. Usually, I make myself laugh and then do the thing anyway. Sharing in case the idea of me flinging myself into a chair and crying "O, woe is me" helps.

Everybody needs to read this thread, whether they identify as a "helper" or not.
I have a migraine and am in an agitated phase where I can’t rest yet -

So I’m going to share a few thoughts that are circulating in my head.

Take them in context:

There is no protected class of designated helpers who are insulated from the trauma and precarity of the crises we are all facing

Help me figure out whether transit service planning is still the route I want to take 🥹🗺️🚌

Any service planners in Rhode Island, the Massachusetts South Coast, or the Boston region? 🌊
Currently at a crossroads thinking about long-term plans and I’d love to shadow a transit service planner sometime. I’ve been fascinated by service planning since I was a kid and learning more about their day-to-day work would be really helpful! 🚌🗺️

Ok all sarcasm aside, what these white supremacists are really talking about is when they are asked to apologize for doing racist things. Which happens. Because racism is something to apologize for. What they are saying is that no one should have to apologize for racist actions or statements.
Next time someone says they don’t have to apologize for being white anymore, ask them to tell about the most recent time they were forced to apologize for being white and who made them do it.
