While at Worldcon in Seattle in August, I saw a woman walk by wearing a gray T-shirt with just four words on it:

"I have friends everywhere."

It's something I'd been thinking about for a while. We—all—have friends everywhere. So let’s talk about THAT.

The agents came looking for a relative who no longer lived in the apartment, the shellshocked mother told THE CITY. Days later, her children are terrified to leave their parents' sides.

This is someone who was reading fantasy when I was reading fantasy. Great thread.

The thread *does* say, but I want to highlight:
I read A LOT of fantasy and science fiction written by women in the 1980s and 1990s. Let's not forget this exists. You can still find it — and you should! #SFFLove
5) We are due for a critical reassessment of the 1970s-1990s sword & sorcery boom.

There was a ton of S&S that was published during the peak paperback fantasy period which has been almost forgotten today. Who remembers Jean Lorrah's SAVAGE EMPIRE?

Excellent use of a red pen.
There — I fixed the analysis so it is actually accurate to what happened when 8 Senate Dems caved instead of keeping up the righteous fight to deliver lower health care costs for Americans.

#Seattle, check that your vote is counted.

I checked mine and my dad's to be sure they were accepted. Easy to do.
There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.

Go. Check. Your. Ballot.

We are just about to begin week 1 of Writing in Good Company, for the last cycle of 2025. I am so grateful to have had this rhythm of checking in and writing once a week with brilliant, generous women throughout this year.

I'm signing this petition because I believe in that skills in clear communication serve students and the rest of us.
When science is understandable, we all win. I've started a national petition calling on all institutions of higher education, and their accreditors, to require science communication and public engagement training for all STEM degrees. A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

So when the American people, together, spend years researching and building and funding a campaign to save people's lives ... what we do matters.

And when a couple rich guys say, "Nah, in my personal opinion that's all a joke and a waste of money, we'll cancel it" — then 400,000 children die.
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc
