It's fine to eat pumpkin pie for breakfast. I shall go and do so, and then get to work.

What is this "Raven"? It's the conclusion to the Forest Duology begun in THE WOLF AND THE WILD KING. www.kvj.ca/wolf.html

Finished writing Raven yesterday. Now to read the end and see if it's right, before starting a last pass through. I revise as I go, so it's all gone through many, many revisions, except this very last ending part. Probably it (I) should rest a little before I work through from the beginning again.

I don't think people appreciate enough the fact that, at a time where global warming was approaching an inflection point yet renewable energy was finally becoming economically viable, we decided to squander that opportunity because literal death cultists decided we needed Infinite Bullshit Machines.

Snow today, snow tomorrow ... just flurries, at least. I have no energy for shovelling.

It‘s been in the back of my mind for a while that we’re building the equivalent of viruses and bacteria - lots of information and direction, no self - and tripping over the fact that we made their component parts out of our languages, so they look purposive.

Just seen Mystic Pizza for the first time. (Reasons why I missed it back in the day too complicated for a post.) One to add to the list I'm mentally compiling of fictions to teach the 20-somethings how to be human.

Anyway.

I really want to put together a reading and movie list of "how to be human" fiction for those indoctrinated entirely in business & programming who seem to have lost their way and their foundation in the real world, but how to get them to make the time to read and watch?

FINIS[?] I have written. That's Raven.
128,232 words.
Not really sure about the end.
Well. Let it sit for a few days to settle.
Better go cook food for people.
(The end of @jameslatimer.bsky.social's awaiting the sequel to THE WOLF AND THE WILD KING is at least a bit closer ...)

Yes, this, so much.
I find myself nostalgic for the days when evil people had to pretend not to be evil, because being evil was considered socially unacceptable.

Maybe a similar case would be medieval salt marsh extraction in North Frisia, which increased vulnerability to flooding, e.g. the Great Mandränke Flood, which led to the sinking of Rungholt.

Rungholt was once a booming trade town where residents reaped profits from the land’s bountiful natural resources — until a changing climate and rising sea levels ripped it all away.

In case we thought that ecological disasters were a special talent of modernity, let’s talk about how the 13th-century peat trade of Norfolk made it permanently vulnerable to flooding, including 3 catastrophic floods just since 2013.
