I’ve lost the ability to enjoy a number of authors whose works meant a lot to me because they turned out to be sex pests and I have much less attachment to politicians

"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

Down with the sex predators, wherever they are.

Americans told us they need lower health care costs.

So Republicans ripped away their health care, jacked up costs, and handed over giant tax cuts to billionaires.

It's shameful. But I’m not going to stop fighting.

I am shooting my shot.

I love writing op-eds.

@teenvogue.com was my main outlet, but if there are any others (especially independently ran) that are looking for a contributing writer on race, gender, and the economy, I'd love to work with you.

In the struggle against authoritarianism, the pro-democracy opposition needs ruthlessly strategic leadership.

Chuck Schumer ain’t it. It’s time for him to resign. We don’t have time for more Schumer Surrenders.

Medicare 4 all.

Why should we pay all that money to insurance companies who deny us coverage and make medical decisions based on company profits? We pay more for less.

Also if you get insurance through your employer and are sighing a deep breath of relief (while obviously still giving a shit about this issue)

understand your insurance through your employer can go up as well, and coverage offered lessened.

And if you lose your job and can't quickly find another

not sure what democrats thought the reaction would be to their plan and these condescending followups. this is life and death for some, or the difference between a home and eviction for others. what were they thinking
How does your pathetic "plan" keep me alive through 2026? How does it pay the premium increase I face? How fucking dare you come on here with this bullshit.
1. We need to fight hard for a good ACA extension early in December and hold Republicans fiercely accountable if they betray everyone.

Your colleagues promised us — promised activists, promised social media influencers, promised organizations — that they were actually going to fight for the ACA, that it was non-negotiable.

You lied to us. You betrayed us. And this is your plan? I know you're not this stupid Sheldon.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

An agreement to agree to do a later vote is NOT an enforceable contract so what in the actual hell are Americans getting out of this deal??

1/ A expected, the latest data update from Walgreens shows rising levels of general respiratory infections and also the first signs of influenza activity in the US!

We're also seeing wastewater signals in Georgia rising, in support of what Walgreens is report.
1/ A concerning flu "variant" may be driving an early rise in cases in the UK.

The virus is an H3N2, but has mutations that suggest it may evade some prior immunity.

We're not seeing much activity in the US, but that may be changing.

A 🧵 on what signals I'm watching.

There is something really wrong with people who need workers to be not just competent, but slavishly fake-happy. "Slavishly" used on purpose, bc that's where this grotesquerie comes from.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.

Senate Dems, do not cave. Ensuring healthcare premiums don’t surge is an 80-20 issue. They want to gut the ACA because their disdain for Obama far outweighs their concern for anyone’s health.

Had an interesting conversation today with someone who said they pick fast food chains based on whether the workers smile and greet customers.

I can't help but suspect there's a throughline from chattel slavery to modern-day expectations of service workers.
