Lead-acid is a well-understood technology. The driving force (well, one I suppose) for new tech is power density. No one wants a lead-acid battery in their cell phone.

We're already doing it with lead acid batteries (it's almost a closed-loop recycling system now!) so we're absolutely gonna do it with other battery chemistries, too.
A whole lot of aftermarket car parts are actually used car parts that got wear items like bearings or brushes replaced, cleaned up, and re-sold.
