"[B]ody cameras are not a reform to any form of police violence. There has been overwhelming research. There's so much research and overwhelming consensus ... that even the federal government's own position, for a decade or more, has been that body cameras do not reduce police violence."
As calls grow to abolish ICE, Alec Karakatsanis warns activists not fall for “copaganda,” which “takes ordinary people who are outraged over what’s happening and converts them into supporting meaningless reforms that actually don’t reduce the size or power or budget of these bureaucracies.”
In Battle Over DHS Funding, Reforms Like Body Cameras Are a “Copaganda” Myth
Let’s focus on changes that will actually reduce the violence these agencies commit, says author Alec Karakatsanis.

yeah seeing the "Minneapolis took off because the so-called 'activists' got out of the way and let normal people in" takes is really frustrating. that's not at all an accurate look at what's happening in Mpls or anywhere else. All these movements rely on cores of people who have experience.
Lots of regular degular, never-done-an-activism folks have been activated in recent months and are working alongside a bunch of seasoned, die-hard, been-tired-for-ten-years-or-more organizers, and you don't know all of those stories bc most people are moving with a bit of discretion in these times.

The third pillar of Thriving Kids is insulting because it puts the onus for responding to childhood disabilities onto parents. Not coping? Maybe you need another parenting coaching session?
That 3rd paragraph is kinda insulting

This administration says all moms should breastfeed unless of course they think you should be detained by ICE instead
A newborn in Minneapolis hadn’t eaten for a day and a half.

ICE agents took her mother when she went to work, trying to make money for diapers.

Her 16-year-old and Bri, a local mother of two, saved that baby's life. @chabeli.bsky.social tells their story
When one mother was taken by ICE, another stepped in to donate breastmilk

There are so many tragedies these days and this is among them. I saw many wonderful shows at the KC when I was a kid. It never ceases to horrify me that no one (in power) is stopping this president from ravaging the country. They could learn from the folks in ICE occupied cities.

*sigh* here we go again. Your phone is not listening to everything around you 24/7 for advertising purposes. *If* you have voice activation on for the assistant, the mic is listening for the activation phrase: the processing power for listening for a single specific phrase is much lower.
Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"?

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

I mean, they are correct in that the graphic does not glorify or valorize any specific incident. It glorifies all of them. Any of them. However you do it, it glorifies them. It's a general glorification of shooting people in the head without due process of law simply because you don't like them.
"There is no labeling in the graphic, and there are no identifying features... this graphic does not glorify nor valorize any incident because it lacks any reasonable connection," the college Republicans who posted this graphic said in a statement. dailyillini.com/news-stories...
