The four-page list released from his administration runs to more than 70 people – including his former lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell and former chief of staff Mark Meadows. They’ve all been granted “full, complete and unconditional” pardons for their actions in relation to the 2020 vote. They were accused of being involved in a scheme to alter slates of electors in battleground states like Arizona, Georgia and Michigan, which Biden won in 2020. None of those on the list was ever charged on a federal level, but this directive could prevent future administrations from prosecuting. A month post op from T2-T11 fusion for scoliosis.
Parts of my back are still numb, but lying on it is weird. First few times was like a turtle stuck on its back, struggled to right myself.

Focus on the breath can be an anxiety trigger for some and lead to panic attacks, due to the judgments and thoughts that pile on as you think about how you should be able to do it, how you’re doing it wrong, how you can’t even do breathing right, and so on. When you’re calm and still and say, mid-meditation, that’s perfectly fine, because you can observe those thoughts without getting attached to them. But in the middle of a freak-out, it’s more likely you’ll get hooked by the thoughts and carried away into panic-town.

Under the ceasefire deal, Israel has freed some doctors, nurses and paramedics seized during raids on hospitals in Gaza, but other high-profile medical figures remain missing. According to the NGO Healthcare Workers Watch (HWW), more than 100 remain in Israeli prisons, including Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, a hospital director, who became the face of the struggle to keep treating patients under Israeli siege and bombardment. Abu Safiya, the director of the Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza, has been imprisoned without charge by Israel for nearly 10 months. HWW, which documents detentions from Gaza, said 55 medical workers – including 31 doctors and nurses – were on lists of freed detainees. The group said at least 115 medical workers remained in custody, as well as the remains of four who died while in Israeli prisons, where rights groups and witnesses have reported frequent abuse.

How he takes time, in a speech memorialising a friend, to brag about his tariff policies, and double down on his threats to send the military into American cities, and foreshadow an imminent announcement on health policy, and insist for the gazillionth time that the 2020 election was rigged against him. As if any of those things were remotely relevant to the occasion.

She is such a humble and loving lady, an animal lover who has always cared for stray dogs and cats. Her children are nothing like the “nepo kids” — they don’t live a life of luxury. One of her daughters has given so much back to society and to animal welfare. She was even fearless in suing her father and the politicians who tried to destroy a huge forest in Nepal to build another project, which would have had a devastating impact on the ecosystem.

Trump blames 'radical left political violence' for killing of Charlie Kirk, fails to mention killing of Democratic lawmaker in Minnesota In an Oval Office address delivered before the person who killed the conservative activist Charlie Kirk has even been identified, Donald Trump blamed ‘the radical left’ for the shooting and promised a crackdown. “For years those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today and it must stop right now,” Trump said. “My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity, and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it, as well as those who go after our judges, law enforcement officials and everyone else who brings order to out country.” He then provided a list of incidents of what he termed “radical left political violence, including the attempt to kill him last year, the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, the 2017 shooting of Republican congressman Steve Scalise and what he called “the attacks on Ice agents.” The president’s list notably did not include violence against Democrats, like the murder of Melissa Hortman, a Minnesota state lawmaker, and her husband, and the shooting of another Democratic state lawmaker and his wife in June, by a man who a hit list of 45 elected officials — all Democrats. He also chose to omit the attack on former House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, the Trump supporter who sent pipe bombs to leading Democrats, or the threats to the life of his first vice-president, Mike Pence, by pro-Trump rioters who beat police officers on January 6 2021.

He just announced that the Department of Education will be issuing “new guidance protecting the right to prayer in our public schools.” A short while ago the president brought up a 12-year-old California student who addressed the Religious Liberty Commission. He told a story about how he was “forced” to read My Shadow is Pink – a story book that explores how a young boy explores different parts of his identity that aren’t considered traditionally masculine. “I knew this was not right, but I was afraid of getting in trouble. After my family spoke up, school treated us badly, and kids started bullying me and my brother because of our faith, and the school did nothing to stop it. It hurt a lot, but I kept trusting God,” she student said today, standing next to Trump. The president went on to undermine trans rights. “Can you imagine men playing in women’s sports?” Trump said. “Democrats don’t want to give it up.”

Supreme court backs Trump on aggressive immigration raids The supreme court has again backed Donald Trump’s hardline approach toward immigration today, allowing federal agents to proceed with raids in southern California targeting people for deportation based on their race or language. The court granted a justice department request to put on hold a federal judge’s order temporarily barring agents from stopping or detaining people without “reasonable suspicion” they are in the country illegally, by relying on race or ethnicity, or if they speak Spanish or English with an accent, among other factors. The court’s three liberal justices publicly dissented from the decision. Los Angeles-based US district judge Maame Frimpong had issued the order on 11 July, finding that the Trump administration’s actions probably violated the constitution’s fourth amendment protection against unreasonable searches and seizures. The order applied to her court’s jurisdiction covering much of southern California. The lawsuit alleged a pattern of “roving” patrols by masked and heavily armed agents conducting interrogations and detentions based on racial profiling that resemble “brazen, midday kidnappings”. One plaintiff, Jason Gavidia, claimed that agents roughed him up after disbelieving his statements to them that he is a US citizen, demanding to know the name of the hospital where he was born. “Individuals with brown skin are approached or pulled aside by unidentified federal agents, suddenly and with a show of force, and made to answer questions about who they are and where they are from,” the lawsuit stated. Frimpong issued the temporary restraining order halting agents from using race or ethnicity, language, presence at a particular location such as a car wash or tow yard, or type of work, to carry out stops or arrests, as none of those factors alone can establish “reasonable suspicion” of illegality. The San Francisco-based 9th US circuit court of appeals on 1 August denied the administration’s request to lift Frimpong’s order. In a written filing, the DoJ defended targeting people using a “reasonably broad profile” in a region where, according to the administration, about 10% of residents are in the country illegally. The administration’s request marked its latest trip to the supreme court seeking to proceed with policies that lower courts have impeded after casting doubt on their legality. The supreme court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, has backed Trump in most of these cases.

Kennedy and HHS to link Tylenol use in pregnancy to autism – report Health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr plans to announce that use of Kenvue’s popular over-the-counter pain medication Tylenol in pregnant women is potentially linked to autism, without including evidence for the claims, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Kennedy, in a report, will also suggest a medicine derived from folate called folinic acid can be used to treat symptoms of autism in some people, the WSJ reported. Tylenol, whose active ingredient is acetaminophen, is a widely used pain reliever, including by pregnant women. The report, expected this month from the US Department of Health and Human Services, is likely to highlight low levels of folate, an important vitamin, and Tylenol taken during pregnancy, as well as other potential causes of autism, the report said. The health department and Kenvue did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. It is not the first time Kenvue or J&J have faced questions about the link between Tylenol and the condition. In 2023, a judge rejected claims the drug causes autism if mothers take it during pregnancy. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says Tylenol is safe to use in pregnancy, though it recommends pregnant women consult their doctors before using it, as with all medicines. Children’s Health Defense, the anti-vaccine group formerly headed by Kennedy, has posted several times in recent weeks on social media site X about the potential link between Tylenol and autism.

What are the organisers of the rally saying? No group has publicly claimed responsibility for organising the protests. Promotions for the protest say: “It’s time to take our country back. It’s time to defend our heritage. It’s time to defend our culture. STOP MASS IMMIGRATION NOW.” The promotional material also says not to bring foreign flags to the protest, just the “blue ensign, red ensign, or the eureka flag”. Does the Porepunkah attack change anything? It could. Supporters of the march have been sharing conspiracy theories about why Dezi Freeman, the suspected Porepunkah gunman, was visited by police the same week the protests were planned to take place. Police said they were there to execute a warrant in relation to alleged sexual offending. "Prior to these reforms, fit for purpose meant your rental properties had to have … electricity, hot water, etcetera," he said.
