Yes, gay, okay, hooray, but never mind the sex. this is a love story, a great big classic love story. And it's a really classy production, great acting, direction, lighting, music, design (the real scandal is the property porn, oh those apartments!). And so many gorgeous details. Too many pillows on the bed. The camera's gay gaze (that's so rarely done right). Men watching TV with their hands down their pants. And the killer line being delivered in Russian, by Svetlana, about Jane. Wonderful. And it's such bold storytelling - the wild swing of Ep.3, the rabble-rousing joy of Ep.5, the sheer patience of Ep.6 Sometimes there's a fabulous lack of drama: traditional confrontations have all the steam taken out of them, replaced by proper, adult conversation. A gorgeous show, and in an age when Glaad reports LGBTO+ representation falling under a hostile regime, Canada surges ahead into a bold new world. Maqnificent!

I haven't seen much of it myself, but I've heard speculation about the Heated Rivalry cast's sexualities have started so I just want to remind people of this.

Can we *not* have the “is the show queer enough” conversation. Right now we’re fighting back against a homophobic cultural swing and any media that’s showing queer joy and queer love is MAGIC and NEEDED.

I have so few memories about s1 except that Olivia Colman was great! but! I've seen, uhh, a scene from s2 that is very much of interest to me and most of fandom, so I will def be watching.

I did it!!!! Right after I turned on the dishwasher, I noticed a cup that was dirty. Instead of cursing for five minutes like I usually do, I pressed pause, opened the dishwasher door and put the cup in there. Now my dishwasher is doing its thing and I have no dirty dishes anywhere in the kitchen!!!

it’s come to my attention that my tumblr post has been crossposted to bluesky, so I’m posting it on my account here #AntiAI #GenAI
recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

Come on in to the internet's hottest club: Heated Rivalry. It. Has. Everything. Chiseled jawlines, panting, hockey sweat, muscles, and that thing where two people who think they're not allowed to be in love suddenly want nothing more than to lick each other from head to toe. It's racy and romantic; intense and intimate; addictive and attractive as all hell. So many conversations about this series include, "Oh, but it's much richer than you think," and yes, that is true, and I have caught myself giving that caveat as well. Because it is! But you know what? Who cares if it weren't? It doesn't have to be! It doesn't need to be anything more than Hot Horny People Catching Feelings; it's still worthy entertainment and escapism. The fact that it does have extra layers is a bonus but not a prerequisite. Romance as a genre is so often placed at the bottom of the totem pole automatically, so much so that people are conditioned to defend their interest rather than celebrate it in uncomplicated bliss the same way people fete other novels. No one is asking readers to explain why they're reading sweeping historical sagas, or books about men and their middle-aged masturbatory ennui and creeping depression, so why should anyone have to justify wanting to immerse themselves in love and lust and pleasure? And why does the world play into the notion that the only people enjoying this must be horny and lonely? Screw that. Pun intended. Go read the newsletter and subscribe! #heatedrivalry

The author of a viral Reddit thread alleging fraud at a food delivery company tried to back up his claim by sending me AI-generated documents. Today I'm publishing those documents in the hopes that it helps other reporter see what we're up against in the age of AI www.platformer.news/fake-uber-ea...
The whistleblower, for his part, worked to amp up the pressure. He told me he had shared the document with other reporters, putting me into a competitive crunch. He asked when I thought I would publish. I asked him if he could point me to any current or former coworkers of his who could help me understand the document better. “Not really,” he said. By this point, alarm bells were starting to ring. I wondered if the employee badge the whistleblower had shared with me might have been AI-generated. While AI systems are notoriously unreliable at identifying their own outputs, Google Gemini can detect SynthID watermarks embedded in images that it produces. I uploaded the badge to Gemini and asked if Gemini had made it. “Most or all of this image was edited or generated with Google AI,” it said.
