Heck yeah. I forgot about his part. Hard agree.
Dead Again.

He’s not the star, and it’s probably not my favorite of his performances, but it’s my favorite movie that he’s in.
Without saying The Birdcage, fav Robin Williams film?

Man, I almost cried at this. I'm still haunted by an opinion that was in my... Crim Pro textbook (?) where officers had shot a dog, and each heading of the opinion was a dog themed joke.
Also, someone in the comments mentioned that this is a better use of judicial resources than Trump stuff...

I do not have a coffee table. Real life would be kids artwork and "the Week" magazine (kids magazine) scattered about amongst the mess.

Ugh. I am actually currently reading "Sister Outsider" by Audre Lorde, an illustrated copy of Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pierce, and the Menopause Manifesto.
alright let’s get something more pleasant going. what two books would you leave out on your coffee table so a reporter can mention you have them. doesn’t matter if you’ve read them. for me it’s Pale Fire (which I did read) and Ulysses (got like 15% of the way in)

I’m going to think about watching this moment unfold in real time for a long time.

for all the horrors coming out of Chicago and its metro area, the principled courage of everyday people, in the face of such intimidation, never ceases to astonish. www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/12/k...

And it feels like this feeling has been an animating force since the Great Recession, and is one of the reasons people will say that "both parties are the same."

During the Great Recession, both parties bailed out the banks, and the banks turned around and foreclosed on people's houses.
The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

When your husband is lost at sea so your mourn and grieve but then you get remarried because someone’s got to provide for these kids but then your first husband miraculously returns from the dead
this dummy has one ever had one toy he cared about—pooh bear—until we lost it about a year and a half ago. it took him another six months before he landed on gumby. well, we found pooh behind some furniture, and now whenever he’s in the room with both he loses his mind and just starts whimpering.

Support staff, particularly at big law firms, still remember the "good old days," that bring to mind a Mad Men hellhole, where lawyers drank to oblivion at work, and grabbed ass on the regular.

Does anyone have recommendations for good writing about the Black church in the U.S. during the first half of the 20th century? I'd love to have a better grasp on these dynamics.
It's also really interesting to compare this film created by the Black church to Micheaux's (deeply critical) representations of the church in Within our Gates (1920) and Body and Soul (1925).
