The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out.

This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.
Swen Vincke @LarAtLarian Holy fuck guys we’re not "pushing hard" for or replacing concept artists with AI. We have a team of 72 artists of which 23 are concept artists and we are hiring more. The art they create is original and I’m very proud of what they do. I was asked explicitly about concept art and our use of Gen AI. I answered that we use it to explore things. I didn’t say we use it to develop concept art. The artists do that. And they are indeed world class artists. We use AI tools to explore references, just like we use google and art books. At the very early ideation stages we use it as a rough outline for composition which we replace with original concept art. There is no comparison. I feel absolutely terrible for the people in Springdale -- awful situation to be in.
Several of the council members said they were voting “yes” to avoid a lawsuit. They said if the borough denied a conditional use permit after Allegheny DC agreed to meet all the conditions specified, then the company could sue and likely win in court. Council member Jeffrey Hartz, one of the two “no” votes, said the borough has “been threatened from the beginning” that it could get sued if the permit was not granted. “The way I look at it is, if you have to sue a small community like ours to invade it then you should probably not come,” Hartz said. Hartz said he’s concerned about the psychological impacts noise from the center will have, and that the effects won’t be known until the facility is running and it’s too late to stop it. “It's our job as elected officials up here to do what's best for the community and the people,” Hartz said, his voice cracking with emotion. “Appears to me that we're forgetting about the people.”

This also goes for “female socialization” with trans mascs. Trans kids being pressured to conform to an assigned gender will attempt to mimic their cis peers to survive.

That’s an injustice & traumatic, not an indicator of not fully being our real genders.

The trope is transphobic pseudoscience.
