Bornavirus test is negative! More tests will be done, since there can be false negatives, and there will be some kind of antibody test performed soon, but for now Mango gets to say hi to Queso.

Get it? Because sun conure? You get it.

Anyway, everything is political. Everything. Even ignoring politics is political. Yes, even posting your birds is political.

For example, I believe birds should NOT be sold in pet stores. I support legislation that bans this, much the same way some states

Mango is 90% back to normal! She has regained all the weight she lost, she is more active, stable, and vocal. I think the only difference still noticeable is that she continues to nap often. Hopefully she keeps improving! Still waiting on the Bornavirus test results. Thank you for your support 💖🦜

Stay safe and warm! Huddle up with your flock!

Oh, and fight fascism!

I would say that Mango is mostly back to normal! She has improved so, so much. The only thing is that this happened before, so I'm not totally sure what to make of that. She has a followup vet appointment so we'll see!

I have Mango cuddle time every morning to help make sure she don't hate me for giving her many meds. Meanwhile she attempts to cut off my airways with feathers so that I might not medicate her anymore. Have these unflattering photos of the event.

I put the meds in Mango's Girl Gruel (Harrison's Recovery food) and it worked! Well. For a moment. I don't think I've ever seen an animal so attuned to detecting meds in everything.

She's hanging in there!

Got this case summary, discharge notes, etc sent today. Sharing for transparency, because it provides a better explanation than I can, and also contains some info I think might be good/helpful for others.

It also mentions why a reunion with the other birds isn't possible yet.

So Mango is definitely feeling better. Obviously still far from 100%, but she is vocalizing so much more, which is very, very different to before the vet. This is a picture of her now, still in our "hospital cage."

I'm also posting the bill we got from the vet for transparency, since this was only

We are on the way back home! And yes Mango looks super rough. She has been through a lot with tests the past few days.

But despite how she physically looks, her behavior suggests she is feeling somewhat better! She started screaming the moment she saw us lol. She is also eating a lot + moving

Friday Update: CT scan did not reveal much.

Really the only thing was that something in her GI tract was a bit irritated and distended, which is what caused it to appear like a pocket of fluid on the ultrasound, but also why the fluid was revealed to be just GI material. There is no free floating

Got the evening update. Mango continues to improve! She is not oxygen chamber dependent. Her "refill time" is normal, as is her heart rate. She continues to gain back weight. That's the good news.

The bad/idk what news is this:

They were able to do bloodwork and some kind of tests with

So mixed news this morning.

I will get the bad out of the way: the fluid does not seem to be egg. It sounds like it was kinda inconclusive? They said is was suspected GI material. She has been put on a GI med just in case there is an ulcer or something.

So. Uhhh. I guess we are kinda back to

We are home now. I'm pretty sure this is Queso demanding to know where Mango is. He's standing on her cage, which he doesn't often do, and doing this. 😭

Okay. So. Big news. Idk if you'd consider it good or bad. It just kind of is. I will explain things the best I can.

We are still waiting on various diagnostic results from all the stuff done today.

They did find she has a heart murmur, and it's looking like maybe not heart disease.

While we wait for more news from the vet, here is Motivational Mango: a sad fighting thread. A classic from years ago. Tap photos to see the text.

She is doing a bit better this morning. She will be having an ultrasound and the cardio consult today. The long and short of it is that based on those results we will either keep going or not.

One more collection of Mango photos for tonight. For luck tomorrow morning. 💖
