Ok, here's my update after just 30 minutes.

I'm a person who values:
- control.
- privacy.
- a browser being a browser.

I don't need my browser to make me toast and coffee in the morning, suggest things to me, build my ego, or anything else.

So, @waterfox.net and I are going to get along great.
Alright. Been following the firefox issue... and after years of using Firefox (and literally not updating Firefox for so long that right now its angry at me), I'm switching to Waterfox. Will let you know how I feel about it after using it for a bit.

I've used it for years & satisfied with it. It's a fork so extentions work & bookmarks are straight import. @waterfox.net recently put up a statement about Mozilla's direction & the use of AI

With @mozilla.org CEO Anthony Enzor-DeMeo wanting to turn @firefox.com into an "AI browser", I think it's time to find an alternative. This direction he wants to take Firefox in genuinely disgusts me and is abhorrent. Looks like @waterfox.net is a viable alternative.

Goodbye @firefox.com, hello @waterfox.net. The trust-first Firefox we came to know feels like it’s fading. User choice matters, but so does knowing when to stop chasing trends.

It is beyond frustrating to me that the only alternative to Chromium is currently doing its best to try shoot itself in the foot.

I've been using Firefox for most of my life, and to see a fumble like this when they're already on their backfoot is disappointing.

Just switched to WaterFox instead.

I have unfortunately heard this morning about Firefox selling out to slop central 😠, so tonight when I get home from work I'm going to switch to Waterfox (a browser I've heard many people say works better and their devs have a strict no-AI stance 😉 👏 ) - time to put out the fire 💧 🔥

Waterfox is a free and opensource browser based on Firefox with all LLM or AI stuff removed. This might be the replacement.

New Waterfox updates are rolling out! On desktop, `6.6.5.1` brings a reversion to the default search (your modified choice remains untouched) and proper unloading of tree tabs when not in use. This should mean lower background memory usage and less conflicts with other tab extensions.

All my Linux laptops use @waterfox.net

It's Firefox ESR with all the telemetry and other objectionable junk turned off. And it works with a global menu bar, which Firefox doesn't any more.
