I have a gas fire in the living room, an immersion heater for water and a portable electric heater for my parents room so we’re not completely frozen!

Boiler update: the pump is is no more. It has ceased to be. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. It is an ex-pump.

Unfortunately my boiler engineer doesn’t have one to hand so please cross all fingers and toes he can get hold of one tomorrow because the house is COLD ❄️❄️❄️

Well it isn’t that old and was serviced in September and pronounced fine so I am a little perplexed. But my engineer is coming this afternoon so crossing fingers and toes it’s something simple!

Boiler remains unfixed (🥶) but the sun is shining and there’s a rainbow on my bookshelf #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

Thank you for that as I am indeed very very squidgey about them!

Thank you! I have a gas fire and a portable heater for my parents room but the rest of the house is brrrrr!

Boiler has gone from not entirely doing what it’s supposed to do but still functioning to … not. Happy Tuesday to me!

I’m so sorry.

Thanks, I think I’ll do the same (although I do not have your level of following!)

So are you fully deleting your account or just never opening the app again?

Excellent choices, exactly what I use! Really hope it suits your skin the way it does mine x

It’s snowing! And the resident magpie - who you can’t see as they’re hiding in the hedge but can very much hear - is not amused. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

Thank you.

Another dusting of snow overnight, complemented by a pink-cloud smattered sunrise. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

Many hugs! I would like to have words with that doctor. Also five minutes alone with him. Just me. And a hat pin.
January 2, 2026 at 9:12 PM
Thank you for the hugs. It wasn’t all at the same time but it was in that order across the first three decades of my life.
January 2, 2026 at 9:10 PM
It’s a light fall only, tiny flakes like icing dusting a cake, but it’s still snow. #TheSmallThings #SpreadingJoy

The land has been year-walked. The future has been met in the lanes and ways. The cunning folk have conferred. On the doors of The Raven, The Woodwose's Crown and all the other pubs they use, the proclamation has gone up: 'This is the YEAR OF THE GREEN PATHS.'

Happy New Year! That all sounds wonderful and I would very much like to see the mouse kitchen if you ever feel inclined to share a photo.

Hooklanders have many names for twilight. Among my favourites are 'the blue hour' – capturing the sky's long-stretching towards bruise – and 'rook rest'. The latter holds part of my practice. I love to stand before wood edge at rook rest and here their gossip of the dying day. – #EmilyCBanting
