I'm a writer and have worked in a support role in arts marketing, both employed and freelance, since 2008.

Things are the worst I've ever known. Worse than austerity, worse than Covid, worse than the cost of living crisis, as those economic changes become baked into our lives 💔

Speaking of which, I'll be putting together our November newsletter soon. If you have any events, call-outs, or opportunities for writers in November (of particular interest, but not limited to, writers in the North of England) let us know and we may be able to squeeze it in!

There's a bit of a bug with our newsletter where it's not adding new subscribers at the mo, I'm on the case and it should hopefully be fixed soon!

My comfort in folklore often comes from the fact it ratifies the truths that greed is an evil, tyranny is to be opposed and manners matter. If it legitimises a fear of trespassing against the common good by the rich, it is performing one of its fundamental roles. – #CLNolan #FolkloreThursday

This is quite exciting. Over the next year, we’re going to be giving away 12,000 of these little books to help spread the love of short stories:
Little Uncertainties
Little Uncertainties are very short books, each containing just a single story.

Publishing thoughts for the day: weighing up the benefits of listing our future titles on Nielsen (which opens up options like getting books into libraries etc) with the fact that it means titles will then automatically get imported into Amazon

Delighted that the work we've been publishing in our micro-journal, Carmen et Error, is getting the recognition it deserves! @corinnaboard.bsky.social's brilliant poem 'A dunnock's prayer' was highly commended in this year's Forward Prizes!
