Happy summer solstice! Very warm and extremely changeable in the North East (just heard a rumble of thunder) but managed to get to the coast today.

Two weeks today, we open for submissions for our first anthology!

If you're a Northern writer who fancies getting folkloric, we want to read your words! And for the rest of you lovely readers and writers, we're super grateful for any help you can give sharing this opportunity 🙏

We'd like to have a tradition of reading short stories on Sundays. Call it #ShortStorySunday.

If you'd like, chuck us a link to a short story we can read online. Doesn't have to be by you, doesn't have to be new, just something you think others would enjoy.

We're excited to reveal the theme for our first anthology: FOLKLORE.

In a month's time, we'll be open for short story submissions of 2,000-10,000 words from writers living in the North of England.

Spread the word, and get your keyboards/pens/typewriters at the ready...

Happy pride month from Carnyx! We absolutely want to be a space where queer writers can find a home for their words. We're run by a bi editor, and will read queer stories with GREAT interest when we open for submissions later this year.
