An interesting experience is when you pop a vitamin tablet into your mouth and immediately discover it is not a 'chewable' tablet as you thought but an effervescent tablet that you put in water

Nice job, FB and AI, you've ruined feel-good stories. I mean I wasn't much for the chicken soup in the first place (which is probably why my soul is so lacking), but now I find just about every inspirational yarn (usually accompanied by a picture with too many hands) suspect.

In a significantly weirder case, "Sleeping Lady with Black Vase" is a 1928 oil painting by Róbert Berény. It was lost in WWII, and considered looted by the Nazis and likely destroyed afterwards in the chaos... until someone recognized it as set dressing in the movie "Stuart Little."
Yes, really.

I'm watching a PBS documentary about the 1918 influenza pandemic, and the narrator just said "Colonel Gibson's hellish voyage". I know what I'll be calling my period from now on.

I splashed out on this for @mintimperial.com one year and have learned to do it again ever since.
Unfortunately not only is it pricey, the last dram was SO good we ended up buying a bottle of it at eye-watering expense and allowing ourselves tiny awed sips occasionally for a year or two.

everything is bonkers right now and we need a timeline cleanse. let’s play a game. if I handed you a blank check but you could ONLY spend it on an Advent calendar, what absurdly pricy collection of little treats are you buying yourself?

Turn based combat.
Or at least a "super easy for people with 0 reaction time" mode, so I can get past level 2 and find out what happens!

All clear from the vets, no major injuries or signs of parasites, and Agnes is now about as relaxed as I've ever seen her. She has lost over 20% of her body weight though so we're going to have to feed her up.

Interesting thing with a teenage boy: when he tells you about a mate's massively shitty behaviour and what he & the friend group have done about it & you go, that's very mature & probably sensible, well done, then have to fight down the urge to go over to the mate's house & fucking slap him.

Oh Trump threatened legal action? He did? He threatened legal action on something he didn't like? Donald Trump did that?
Well I am agog. Nothing like this has ever happened before.

Do I know anyone who knows much about underwater archaeology?
I'm writing something and am wondering how well vitreous enamel survives on the seabed. Does it get encrusted? Would it eventually break from its metal base due to metal corrosion?
(I'm thinking yes, and 'hopefully not' respectively.)

Honestly like a different girl entirely. Used to hiss at us and run away if you got close - now will ask for cuddles and hisses at the other two through the door.
I am increasingly hopeful that if we find the right home for her she will be very happy indeed. 😻

Much better this morning. Agnes's big adventure has made her much more vocal, and much friendlier, you couldn't pick her up before, but now she can't get enough cuddles. Vet check up this afternoon though so she'll probably decide we're not to be trusted again after that

EXACTLY THIS. Extremely landfill-core.
An excellent second mention, but also: if the tariffs take out Funko Pop that will at least be one positive benefit for humanity. God, how I hate those banal, witless, overpriced lumps of plastic junk, taking up space on your shelves until inevitably they must take up space in landfill, for eternity
