It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.

This week, 20,000 psychotically punctuated emails from our era's most notorious sex criminal were released.

And many of you seem to have taken that as a challenge to have one of your skeets nonetheless be the worst thing someone has read this week.

obviously I would leave out one book that has a clear thematic resonance with my life or situation as captured in the article and one book that contrasts with my constructed image in a way that reveals me to be multifaceted and intriguing
alright let’s get something more pleasant going. what two books would you leave out on your coffee table so a reporter can mention you have them. doesn’t matter if you’ve read them. for me it’s Pale Fire (which I did read) and Ulysses (got like 15% of the way in)

if you want there to be content moderation you must also accept your content being subject to moderation
using “disappeared” here is crazy work

I think it’s worth talking about both of these things separately and together in order to prevent harm, but conflating them in this way is kind of the essence of pedoconservatism

“this is common, so it’s conventional, so it’s traditional, so we not only can but indeed must continue it”
there's something psychologically revealing here in how she thinks "is this a normal kind of desire to have" and "is this a harmful behavior to engage in" are the same question
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

this just makes me kind of wish i were a binary trans person

i wish my B button were attack and my A button were jump but people looking at my controller sort of assumed they were the other way around but not all the time and sometimes both buttons were jump hope this helps
It's like having your B button be jump and your A button being attack. You've had to live with it and suck it up, but you know it's wrong and are truly unhappy with it. Then you discover button mapping, letting you to fix things. Suddenly your sorrow turns to elation as things finally feel right.

watching Taskmaster is an odd experience for me specifically because Alex Horne is clearly a sadomasochistic pervert and he looks exactly like my husband

underrated is the fact that it’s hard to keep up a boycott of US products, and in fact it’s only really been effective in so far as our governments have prevented us from buying US products

it’s very easy to just not travel to the US for a few years, there are accessible alternatives for everyone
It is very weird when US media does not report on the safety concerns, which are top of the list for Canadians I know. Yeah we are also pissed off but we've been pissed off since January, the decline was not gonna keep declining based purely on "elbows up."
I legitimately think this article misses the mark, because Canadians are not avoiding travel out of some principled boycott of the USA over tariffs.

Canadians who are avoiding the USA are seeing images of masked government thugs kidnapping people and teargassing children.

playground equipment always strikes me as indicative of funny priorities

our children must firstly be literate, but secondly they must be ninja warriors

my italian-canadian college roommate’s great-grandpa owned a “pasta factory” in winnipeg in the 1920s that was mostly a liquor smuggling operation

but now i wonder if they also made some pasta
Today I learned that “wheat from Manitoba” is a prominent selling feature in a number of Italian flour products

I just kind of think all these people should, after a fair trial in which they are zealously represented before a jury of their peers, be eaten

it's a hell of an act -- what do you call it
The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

Literary Chinese for Pedophile Rulers:

嘉靖壬寅年,宮婢相結行弑,用繩係上喉,翻布塞上口,以數人踞上腹絞之,已垂絕矣。
In the ren-yin year of Jiajing, palace girls conspired to commit regicide by strangling the Emperor with a rope, gagging him, and getting several girls to sit on his chest to suffocate him until he was nearly dead.

Instagram keeps trying to show me AI videos of normal Japanese public transit staff petting normal cats

why would I want a fake version of that

one time it was a Japanese bus driver telling an owl it couldn’t go on the bus, that one at least makes some sense

people bitch about woke media but if TOS was on today they would go to a thinly-veiled MAGA planet where the locals worshipped guns and then kirk would hit the orange dictator with a two-fisted karate chop before giving a lecture about how science is real and violence is bad

The cortisone shot I got on Friday worked! My shoulder’s not all better but I can put my hair in a ponytail for the first time in months!!!!
I got a cortisone injection, a prescription for Extra-Strength Pain Goop, and an x-ray requisition \o/
finally seeing a sports medicine doctor for my fucked up shoulder

I don’t get how so many people can’t connect the dots between “I have to pay for schools even though I don’t have kids” and “My neighbours’ kids going to good schools with good funding helps keep them from breaking into my shed and stealing my shit”
i think it's cool how Republicans are independently converging on neo-feudalism
