At this point dem leadership should be treated as no different than the administration.

[Righteously filming ppl lighting up a dumpster to later report them while you stand in the middle of the street obstructing traffic as part of a mass social movement opposing the police power of the state]: “I’ve thought a lot about this”

The number of people on here who do not understand that civil disobedience means INTENTIONALLY BREAKING THE LAW is just mind boggling.

For fucks sake, the popularized genesis of the gay rights movement was literally called a “riot.” A RIOT.
February 3, 2026 at 2:17 PM
Sanitized versions of social movements through history feed this delusion that if the cause is just enough, the people good enough, we’ll walk across the bridge arm in arm. Reality is a lot messier. Armies operate with that kind of discipline. Social movements do not.
February 3, 2026 at 2:13 PM
If you want to support the mass mobilization of millions of people, into the streets, to at times directly confront the states claim to a monopoly on violence, you will need to accept that not everyone’s actions make sense to you or seem helpful. This is not a video game.
February 3, 2026 at 2:05 PM
Handwringing about it or attempting to police this sort of thing, among a community of 350M in a time of profound turmoil, profoundly misunderstands humanity and the nature of social movements. It’s of a piece with “Me Too went too far!” Oh?? Call the Me Too police!” lol.
There’s a particular type who basically want a moralized rationalization for venting an adolescent urge to smash shit and feel like the Very Most Radical Boy, and then backfill some half-assed Theory of Change on which they’re the vanguard rather than counterproductive assholes.
i guess i would like to hear the theory on which setting fire to a random dumpster advances the cause of stopping ice

It really bums me out that Klobuchar, who was instrumental in normalizing Trump as just another political adversary, is almost certainly going to be the next governor of Minnesota, a state currently paying a severe price for that normalization of fascism.
Here's all the Klobuchar v. Republican matchups from that SurveyUSA poll

Best Klobuchar lead is +20, worst is +14

Klobuchar was the only Dem to speak at Trump's second inauguration. She spoke of the peaceful transfer of power, even after Trump attempted a self-coup to stop exactly that.

She pivots to talking about grocery prices during Trump's ongoing attempts at turning this country fascist. She's not good.

Any adult that thinks we are going to build data centers in space or leave the solar system needs to be involuntarily committed.
Oh my gd.

Musk is fucking insane with this quoted sentence from the press release on SpaceX acquiring xAI.

"This marks not just the next chapter, but the next book in SpaceX and xAI's mission: scaling to make a sentient sun to understand the Universe."

If true, this would be one of the least surprising turns of events in the history of events turning.
I have spoken with several senior FBI counterintelligence officers who believe that there is a reasonably strong prospect that Tulsi Gabbard is a foreign intelligence asset.
As you read WSJ's piece on the super-secret abuse complaint about Tulsi Gabbard, remember that she tried unsuccessfully to wring counterintelligence function away from FBI last year.

This rules so hard. In law school I remember people who wanted to be federal prosecutors spending three years doing everything they could to be maybe, possibly be competitive for an AUSA job someday. Now you just need to hop on X the everything app and DM a guy named Chad.

So what I’m gathering is a pedophilic billionaire successfully worked to destigmatize race science among the academic, political, and business elite partly by sex trafficking girls. Is that the shape of it so far?
