I absolutely 100% authentically believe he will be thrilled he pulled off the very thing Putin could not. And that this matters a great deal to him.
I guess Trump is desperate to avoid an actual war so someone sold him the idea that kidnapping Maduro could magically take the place of a regime change war.

NYT is calling it "An operation in Venezuela." Though I suppose this is technically correct in that people get operated on to remove internal bits that might be troubling them, just like a sovreign nation invades another one to remove a troubling politician.

Mike Johnson's self-imposed news blackout has just switched into overdrive. He won't even know Venezuela is a country when reached for comment and asked for a reaction.

Ah, well. You see.

Fuck.
Plausible worst case scenario with Venezuela in four steps:

1. Rubio and Venezuelan exiles sell the idea of decapitation strikes against Maduro to Trump as the one big thing that solves Venezuela, cartels and Cuba for the US.

"Hey, maybe a war will distract from those files we keep insisting are made up." America, what have you done? Does anyone even remember how life was just over a year ago? And there will still be people saying they don't regret not voting for Clinton or Harris.

They live there, their kids go to school there. Countries fast track people for all kinds of reasons, usually athletes. So ... I do however have a friend who is undergoing the French citizenship process, which includes an in-person interview to check fluency, etc.

A little more about "Civil War," which I really enjoyed. I loved that you never know how it started, who is what or affiliated with whom. The movie just happens, and takes you along for the ride. No idea why there wasn't more buzz about it. Or maybe there was and I just missed it. Anyhow.

Watching "Civil War," with Kirsten Dunst. Dire, dark, recommended. And relevant, quite obviously. Look it up.

This is an absolutely stunning apartment perched in an exclusive area above Gaia that has been for sale for going on two years. I mean I know why. It's the kind of place that is cool to look at but challenging to live in -- even for a minimalist.

This should not be shrugged aside. They have stopped with the fake 22 million illegal immigrants things and are flat out saying we want to deport 10's of millions of citizens and legal residents from "third world countries" Basically they are advocating removing 1/3 of the population on a gov site.

Your favorite gym is going to, when it opens, be filled with January resolution rockers. And what many do is scoff at them for crowding the gym, not knowing unwritten rules, etc. Don't do that. Be helpful if needed, and supportive whenever possible. Everybody started somewhere. Even you.

The only thing stronger than America's capacity for meanness and discrimination is its capacity for self delusion. They believe they are better than they are, tell themselves that and it buoys them because the reality, that this America is the reality, is not what anyone wants to believe.

The Trump administration arrested 106 protesters this fall, calling them “rioters” and saying the National Guard was needed to protect the immigration agents.

But only 9 cases still have a pending felony charge.

Most are falling apart in court.

Rioters? Agitators? Immigration agents’ claims against US citizens mostly fall apart in court.
Time and again, Donald Trump’s immigration agents claimed horrific crimes at the hands of protesters in Chicago. Those allegations of abuse did not withstand the scrutiny of judicial review.

I dunno man. Posting videos of Anthony Joshua struggling out of the car that reportedly killed 2 of his friends, with passers by holding up phones to film it themselves, feels a bit intrusive and insensitive. I’m sure most people dont mean any harm but it feels like we don’t really need to see that

Nice to see enough people deciphering the admittedly unsubtle code that "apologizing for being white" is a heartfelt paean to unfettered racism and absolution from any related consequences.
