Ooooh here's an idea - The BVG Jelbi app gives you free time using micro mobility when moving bikes to docked locations, so how about adding functionality to Ride (the East Midlands clone of it) which gives you credit (funded out of the fines) for reporting obstructive parking? 😈
An app that you can download onto your phone. Start the app, take a picture, location comes from the gps, report done in seconds.

Hard to believe these are the same place.

First photo 2017, second photo is from 2023 but hasn't significantly changed...

By 2027 the concrete eyesore that is the Arndale carpark should be gone too!

Last day of term, first year of uni - went to student union end of term party.

Walking home with my flatmates we saw quiet a few blue lights going past.

Next day at work on lunch break heard on the radio that two people had been killed in a hit and run outside of uni.

To watch UK Horizons on the bedroom TV after playing on the Mega Drive you had toggle a dongle hanging out the TV from RF to TV, select Ch 7, go downstairs turn the Sky Box and decoder on, Select Sky 1 (Sky Ch8), press tuning up, then H/V select then TV/AV to turn the Channel expander on..

As an absolute minimum there should be a full, documented, feature complete, local API, and the device continues to function* with no cloud connectivity**, the latter of which should be optional (unless essential for core functionality -e.g. Media streaming player).
This should honestly be a legal requirement for discontinued products.

Our big look at why clickbait articles on accessibility at airports are ill-informed or wrong and, frankly, often tinged with racism.

The air industry has a duty to call this out, and admit it contributes to the perception by creating airport environments hostile to even minor mobility issues.

The recent discussion about the UK's inability to deliver infrastructure reminds me of the Leiewerken works in the Belgian city of Kortrijk I saw while on holiday this summer

For context the population of Kortrijk is around the same as Gateshead and the larger urban area slightly larger than Derby.

An unspoken aspect of renting, you're never quiet sure when the landlord is going to spring some maintenance/decorating on you with little over 24 hours notice.

Oh, you were planning on having friends over - ha ha, the decorator will turn your lounge upside down on Friday & finish mid next week!
a fun thing you can do if you're a building maintenance company is unexpectedly arrange a repair for Christmas Eve and then leave your phone lines unmanned so there is no way for residents to rearrange it

Just look through the replies here, no wonder people think this country is broken. So many bridges where a repair isn't likely to happen until at least the 2030s...

Look, you can have low taxation or you can have functioning public services. You can't have both. Lots of people, including the UK government, seem to have forgotten this fact. Taxation isn't theft. It's the foundation of society.

Wonder if East Midlands Railway will get rid of all traces of the East Midlands Trains livery before being nationalised and having to bring it back?

The GBR livery is very stagecoachy with added flagshaggery.

I'm sure @showmeasign.online will appreciate how bad these traffic lights are...

Puts the yellow/red arrow light discourse into perspective!
I'm repeating myself ad nauseam, but this totally stupid nonsense of all identical traffic lights with written signs to indicate what they are meant for is so absolutely insane that has come to symbolize the hyper-provincialism of Ontario and why it fails so miserably at transit construction.
we are reaching new levels of inane traffic delays
