GDP is an appalling measure. It rewards many destructive dynamics alongside good dynamics- and with politicians hellbent on increasing it by any means - we’re screwed.

GDP tracks spending, not wellbeing or ecosystem functionality
Implication:
Our main cultural goal is focused on costs, not benefits
