We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions.

It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.

Harman explaining that actually, horrible migrant crackdowns are left wing politics and if you - a white person - don’t like it, then you are actively harming people from ethnic minorities. An outrageous insult to the public’s intelligence IMO, offhandedly dropping a dog turd onto your dinner plate.

The Joyce Carol Oates and “books written between 1890-1930 are so ALPHA” thing struck home because it showed how many elites nowadays lack the ability to be moved or find meaning in art beyond what we did watching John Wick and going fuck yea this rules and that explains why they believe in AI art

The important thing to remember is that, yes, they would pick fascists over leftists, but they also went to school with the fascists and, deep down, believed that the fascists wouldn't *really* dismantle the good old BBC. Stop scaremongering about good old Adolf, dumb lefties.
Tbh the bbc has been on a downward spiral for a long time and this is self inflicted
Notable that the supposedly “patriotic” wing of British politics wants to destroy / defund almost all of our national institutions

If you live in Britain, your experience of 21st century government has been relentless escalating calamities by ruling parties: disastrous wars, financial catastrophe, destructive austerity, plummeting living standards, soaring prices, unaffordable housing, constant lying and comical incompetence.

I keep seeing supposedly progressive podcasts saying “the problem is that people feel like they just can’t talk about these issues” while these issues are frequently the *only* thing that people are talking about 😩
Am struggling with the idea that people like me somehow don't understand the legitimate concerns of people who attended the Tommy Robinson march. I literally had National Front fliers through my letterbox in my childhood in Greater London and I went to school and university with actual fascists.

What happened when, after decades, there was finally a serious risk that Britain might elect a PM who was likely to e.g. ask to see the Northern Ireland files, just to have a look at what was in them. Was that welcomed, was it encouraged
Much like Hillsborough, you have to marvel at how Britain as a system is so utterly impervious to accountability: decades of orchestrated bullshit, legal shenanigans and institutional roadblocks, and then one final great rasping fart of “maybe it was elves that did it, and fuck you”.

The way I have made sense of the government’s handling of Maccabi Tel Aviv is demonstrating an expectation that the ceasefire should settle any questions about Israel’s character and conduct over the past two years, and a desire to now aggressively re-assert their place among ‘decent’ nations.
